Dzeko And Salah Stays Hot Roma as Crush Palermo Now Only 2 Points From Top #34

Week 11Score: Roma 4 Palermo 1
Stadio Olimpico, Rome

Following back to back wins against fellow Italian Giants Napoli and Inter as well a Disappointment Result In their Mid-Week Draw against Austria Wein in the Europa League Roma would return to action in week 9 of the Serie A campaign to try to make it three in a row against 19th place Palermo. It would turn out to be a very important match with Leaders Juventus losing in Milan earlier this week a win would take Roma 2 point from the top. Roma had no problem taking out the Relegation side it would be pure domination by the Romans Mohamed Salah would open the scoring to give Roma the Lead in the 1st half. In the 2nd half Roma turned on the Jets getting Goals from Dzeko, El Shaarawy and Paredes to complete the assault of Palermo as Roma would get within 2 points of the top of the table.
Roma received big news this week regarding their defense German center back Antione Rudiger was cleared by medial staff to return to full contact training it appears he will return to the side sometime in the next few weeks. Rudiger has yet to play for Roma this summer after tearing his ACL prior to this year’s Euros in France. Roma will surely be exited to integrate him back into the squad as he will be looking to make a big impact when he is fully cleared. filling a big need at the moment especially because of the absence of Bruno Peres. He is not yet at Spalletti’s disposal but surely will be ready to help the team when he’s cleared. Roma manager Luciano Spalletti used the 4-3-3 formation in there Europa league cup tie against Austria Wein however in this match Spalletti went back to the 5-4-1 the formation they have been using much of the season so far. With the Injuries to Bruno Peres and Diego Perotti it has given Roma less options but still managed to put out a decent side. The back four would be almost the exact same back line they used against Napoli. Juan Jesus would again fill in for injured Bruno at left back yet again Fazio and Manolas would be the teams center backs and at right back making his 1st start of the season would be Emerson. Directly in front of the defense Danielle De Rossi and youngster Leonardo Paredes would be the defensive midfield unit De Rossi playing on the left and Paredes on the right. Than the attacking midfield would make up the three-headed monster of the Egyptian pair of Mohamed Salah and Stephen El Shaarawy as well as the Belgium international Radja Nainggolan as the center midfield position. Finally, as the lone Striker the top scorer in the league The Bosnian Tower Edin Dzeko who leads Serie with 8 goals this season. Than in goal it would be the Polish keeper Wojciech Szczesny. Despite the injuries to Bruno and Perotti they put out a very good team one good enough to handle Palermo.

After facing off with Two of Serie A’s biggest outfits Inter Milan and Napoli getting though them both matches with barley a scratch. Back to back wins against two quality sides was a big confidence boast for the Romans as the would approach a very easy section of their schedule. It will be very important for them to win as many of these easy games as possible. They would kick it off hosting Relegation side Palermo at the olimpico. They would learn the day before that a win would take them within two points of Defending champions Juventus after the Turin side lost in controversy against 3rd place AC Milan. So, a big task at hand regardless of the opponents Roma would go into this game as heavy favorites to win the game having the top scorer in the league in Edin Dzeko (9 Goals) as well as the highest scoring offence in the league and one of the best counter attacking teams in Europe so for Palermo it wasn’t going to be an easy task. Edin Dzeko and company were ready as 2nd Place Roma 5-1-2 and 19th place Palermo 1-3-4 faced in a dark Sunday night in Rome. When the game began, it started exactly as expected Roma were displaying brilliance while Palermo failed to get anything going Roma were in complete control of this game from the kick off Missing out on Diego Perotti didn’t seem to matter as El Shaarawy was showing some real quality was very capable of filling in. Nearly scoring several times the entire strike force and great midfield were punishing Palermo. El Shaarawy Dzeko and Salah were on the verge of scoring several times throughout the opening 20 minutes Roma was giving them problems on every play it was extremely clear that it would only be a matter of time before Roma finishes off their chances they have done much better on finished off their opportunities the last few weeks than earlier this season than finally the moment came in 34th minute. Roma created a fantastic chance Dzeko after receiving the ball from the middle of the pitch Dzeko controlled in that sent a through ball into the box to Mohammed Salah the Egyptian than nutmegged the goalkeeper putting the ball right thorough his legs into the back of the net to give Roma the 1-0. Excellent team play the connection from Dzeko to Salah was perfect also very unselfish play by El Shaarawy who steeped back to let Salah put away his 4th goal in Serie A this season. As Roma’s top scorer from a season ago last seasons was beginning to leap up the scoring leaders. Roma’s dominating play continued statically they were blowing the game out of the water many more chances came after the 1st half whistle blew it would just be 1-0 for now as it seemed like it would be only the beginning.
After the 1st half Roma would take out Juan Jesus who has turned out to be a dreadful signing for Roma this summer possibly won’t make it past January. Alexandro Florenzi would come in for him and take over at left back. As the 2nd half continued Roma continued to push on they played tough Palermo just couldn’t stop the attack they survived a season ago this year it just doesn’t look good for them. Roma’s contuses dominance was just too much to handle in the 51st minute they would strike again. Roma would be given a Free kick from outside of the box Leandro Paredes hit a bouncy free kick blew it past the wall and with a big bounce off the ground it eventually beat the keeper scoring the goal giving Roma the 2-0 in the 2nd half. It would be the Paraguay International’s 1st goal of the season as well as his 1stRoma goal so a very special moment he has been very impressive so far this season been an effective sub off the bench as well as a very good starter. There were a lot of rumors over the summer about him leaving Rome for the Premier League but Spalletti showed his faith in the youngster its clear that he has learned a lot from his loan spell at Empoli last year he’s been fantastic this season. Roma lead 2-0 as it is but Roma were just getting warmed up they would get another one a little under 20 minutes later. In the 68th minute Roma would put together a team goal displaying great team chemistry. Mohammed Salah had the ball from outside the box then passed it the Florenzi who sent a perfect pass into Dzeko who then hit a perfect shot from the very top of the box past the keeper giving Roma the 3-0 lead for his 9th goal of the season as he would increase his Serie A league leading total. Edin Dzeko hasn’t just been the best player on Roma but Edin Dzeko is this year’s best player in Serie A there is not a better player in Italy at the moment. Roma is finally getting what they paid for in the Bosnian Striker. A season ago he struggled all season only getting 10 goals. This year he already has 9 he has found a home here in Rome and he will continue to bang goals this is the best Dzeko has played in years’ teams should be afraid of him he is scoring goals for fun this season. After the goal Roma, would make a sub Kevin Strootmen would enter the game in from Raja taking over his role at center mid. Roma counited to show that they were the better team. Palermo barley had any chances all game it was a rather boring game for Szczensy who was untested. However, in the 80th minute Palermo took a deflection to finally somehow found the back of the net the game was well over but at least they scored. At this point Roma legend Francesco Totti would come into the game for Edin Dzeko who played a fantastic match. Unfortunately for the Visitors Roma wasn’t quite done scoring. Roma went on the Break when Totti gave Muhamded Salah a pass the Egyptian dribbled through the defense like it was nothing than giving an easy pass to El Shaarawy putting it past the keeper making it 4-1. El Shaarawy has stepped up the last few games scoring 3 goals in his last two games finally finding his touch. Besides a few more chances it would end 4-1 when the final whistle blew.
With the Win Roma moved up even closer to Juventus. Roma now only trail Juventus by 2 points. Another big performance by the Romans winning their 3rd game in a Row they have also increased on their league leading offence reaching 23 goals this season. They head on the Road Next week to face off against Sassuolo Roma are red hot right now I suspect Edin Dzeko and Roma will have no issues what so ever winning that game we very well could see Roma start a long win streak with not a lot a difficult games upcoming this could be a crucial point of the season this is the best time to put the pressure on Juventus.
