Dzeko Stays Hot as Roma Hold Off Fight Back From Pescara #40

Week 17Score: Roma 3 Pescara 2 FT
Stadio Olimpico, Rome

Following Roma’s recent win the Europa League on Thursday Roma would return to Serie A for 15th match of the 2016-2017 Campaign After losing in their last Match in Serie A to Atalanta last Weekend it was a chance to get back in Business with some very difficult games on the Cusp it was important that Roma do well in this match. After learning earlier in the day that League leaders and defending Champions Juventus has lost to Genova 3-1 on the road it would be an opportunity for Roma to decrease Juventus’s lead at the top to just four points with Roma playing fellow title chasers Lazio, AC Milan and Juventus the next three weeks it would turn out the be a very important game. Dzeko’s hot streak continued scoring two early goals taking his to 17 goals this season as he continues to stay on top of the scoring charts in Serie A this season they would be off to the races with a 2-0 lead but Pescara fought back Second half goal by Memushaj would give Pescara hope but Diego Perotti’s Penalty would fight then off despite another Pescara goal Roma would get an ugly 3-2 at home but a wins a win they move within for point of Juventus as they Prepare for the Derby Della Capitale next Sunday.
There would be news coming out of the Roma camp Earlier this week Roma Defender Mario Rui joined the Giallorossi this summer after three impressive seasons at Empoli but unfortunately the Portuguese torn his ACL before the start of the season he has gone through surgery and therapy to try to repair the damage in his knee after months of not playing he has Returned to training and we could see his return sometime in January it would be another option on the defense after Florenzi’s recent injury it could be just what Roma need. Thomas Vermaelen also made he return to the team sheet after only playing two games since his loan move From Barcelona. Luciano Spalletti’s Roma side made a few adjustments for this game while many of the regulars were there they made some changes although they still stayed with their 4-5-1 formation. The back four of their defensive line looked very similar was the exact same as in their match on Thursday. The Brazilian Emerson made his 2nd straight start at left back for the Romans. He has been infrequently used this season he would be again coming in for Manolas who has an injury but is expected to return for the Derby next week. The center backs would be Fazio on the left and Antoine “The Berlin Wall” Rudiger deploying the right side the pair as played very well together so far, this season so not surprised they been paired off in the center again, its possible Rudiger could move back outside when Manolas returns than finally at Right back would be another Brazilian Bruno Peres. These four haven’t played all the much together as a unit but they performed well together Thursday so no reason why they wouldn’t be successful. Than in front of the defense as the defensive midfield pair there would be a major change. With Paredes, out with injury or rest I’m not sure which he is coming off an injury but he has played the last few games so I’m not sure. Replacing him would be The Brazilian teenager 19-year-old Gerson would make his 1st start in Italian football since arriving from brazil he’s only made a few appearances so far, this season. He would take over Paredes spot for the match playing left defensive midfield. On the right side, it would be the Netherlands International Kevin Strootmen who has been rotated starter this season the other Defensive midfielder Danielle De Rossi would be used as a sub in the match. Than it would be a three headed monster the Roma attacking midfield unit, the center midfielder as expected would be Raji “The Tasmanian Devil” Nainggolan controlling the center basically the quarter back of the midfield. On the right side, would be the Egyptian Muhammad Salah in his usual spot. One of Roma’s regulars Stephen EL Shaarawy would miss his 2nd straight game with a minor injury he still will likely be ready for the Derby Sunday so with him out Penalty Specialist Diego Perotti would take over on the left. Than possibly their most dangerous offensive weapon the Red-Hot Bosnian Tower Edin Dzeko who is Serie A’s top scorer this season. Finally, in the goal Roma’s main keeper this season Wojciech Szczesny. A very interesting lineup but given the injures it’s a very strong one.

2nd Place Roma 8-2-3 would welcome Relegation side 18th Pescara 1-4-8 to the Stadio Olimpico In Rome. After Losing their last Game Roma look to get back on the right track in a largely important game with Juventus loss to Genova. Becomes a window of opportunity for them a chance to close the gap on Juventus in the past when Roma have had a chance to jump on Juventus’s failure they have failed to take advantage. With games against Lazio, AC Milan and Juventus coming up over the next few weeks this game has become more important than originally suspected. Roma coming off their win in Europa league gaining qualification for the Knockout stage has given them confidence to do well but Roma have still struggled as of late. They would go into the game heavily expecting to win but it’s important not to sleep on Pescara there is not greater challenge than a team fighting for their life. It still would be a great task for the visitors with Dzeko playing as well as he is he can almost win a game by himself if necessary. They would finally kick off as the game would begin. Roma wouldn’t waste any time getting the jump on Pescara before anyone could blink Dzeko’s hot streak would continue scoring the opening goal in the 7th minute scoring his 16th goal of the season and his 11th in serie A. On a Roma Corner Bruno gave a short pass to Perotti and the Argentine would take a beautiful cross in from the corner inside the box to Dzeko who was being pulled down hit the ball as he was falling finding the back of the net and just like that. Dzeko would give Roma the 1-0 lead in the 7th minute Roma off a great start. Than just three minutes later Dzeko would strike again his 17th goal of the season and his 12th in Serie A to give Roma a 2-0 lead in the opening ten minutes. In the 10th minute Diego Perotti dribbled up the corner of the box sending the ball into Dzeko who was practically alone hit the ball in the air putting past the keeper just too easy. Roma were starting to run away with it off to a 2-0 lead. It would end as 2-0 after the 1st half despite the 2-0 score it was a very even 1st 45 minutes many chances for both teams easily could have been 2-2.

There were no changes to be made for either team after break the game continued to be neck and neck affair despite a two goal difference the game didn’t seem like it there was no one firmly in control Roma weren’t at their best but so far it was good enough for the time being still was a little bit disappointing they should have been wiping the floor with them the different in class wasn’t even comparable but none the less they were doing very well against the Romans. Than in the 60th minute all their hard work would pay off in after receiving the ball from inside the box Memushaj hit a powerful shot in the bottom corner past the keeper to give Pescara hope making it 2-1. Roma would have made their 1st Sub of the game several minutes after the goal Raji Nainggolan would come off coming in for him replacing him in the center midfield would be Danielle De Rossi Raji did play a pretty good game but Spalletti thought it was time to make a switch. It continued to be a back and forth game both team sharing chances Pescara weren’t afraid of Roma as they continued to fight hard Roma weren’t at their best by any stretch but they were winning that was the important thing and then in the 71st minute they were given a chance to put the game away for good. Diego Perotti attacking in the corner of the box was clipped by Pescara’s right back as the penalty was given. To No surprise, Roma’s Penalty Specialist Diego Perotti would take the penalty that he drew. The Argentine International would hit it left corner past the keeper. Scoring his 5th goal of the season both goal scorers from Thursday game scored again in the game. Roma was off to the 3-1 lead. After the goal Totti would come in for Gerson the Brazilian played a good match a fantastic debut the pressure didn’t faze him. However, Roma’s 3-1 lead only lasted three minutes as Pescara would fight back yet again. In the 74th minute Pescara’s left wing crossed into the box for the attempted header than was deflected outside with a lot of commotion the Roma defense got confused as Caprari would slot home Pescara got on back once again. It clear to me that this team will survive this season they just don’t go down. It continued to be a battle but it seemed like that would be it. In the 90th minute Thomas Vermaelen was subbed on making his 1st appearance in mouths. After stoppage time despite Pescara’s fight it would end 3-2 Roma the hosts take all the three points in a hard-fought game.
With Roma’s 3-2 they now come within 4 points of Juventus. Next week is the big one of the most anticipating games of the season DERBY DAY against Lazio In the DERBY DELLA CAPITALE one of the most vicious Rivalry’s in world football the hatred of these teams can’t be explain this is a war! After the derby, they face AC Milan and Juventus they won’t difficult stretch of the season how they do here could determine weather of not They Can Send Off Totti as a Champion and Become Champions’ of Italy winning these games is a must. It is a three-team race can’t wait to see what happens
