Roma - FrosinoneScore Roma 3 Chievo 1 FT
-Stadio Olimpico, Rome

Following Roma winning streak ending on the Road against Juventus Last weekend Roma would continue their Crusade In Serie A the 18th Match of the Campaign in this midweek fixture against inform side Chievo who had a three games winning streak going despite having minimal success against Roma in recent years they were in good form. Roma would welcome the Flying Donkeys to the Stadio Olimpico not the biggest match of the season but giving the recently loss to Juventus allowing them to take 7 point lead at the top of Italian top flight so every game have become important to get the maximum points. They were desperate to get back in business Roma got off stellar start as however surprisingly Chievo took the lead When Guzman beat the keeper to give the Flying Donkeys the advantage but right before half time El Shaarawy’s wonder strike Equalized make it 1-1 it would be even go into the break than in the second half Roma’s dominance on the field would be rewarded as Dzeko would find the back of the net to give Roma the lead Roma would keep up their hard work as they would earn a late Penalty that would be Buried by Perotti to get Roma back in Business picking up all three points as they Protected the Fortress.
Alexandro Florenzi would continue to rehabilitate his recent his ACL injury as he returned to training last week so good news continues as he continues to progress through his injury a return this season is possible but still remains uncertain. Leandro Paredes, Danielle De Rossi and Kosta Manolas would also all be out for this match. Roma manager Luciano Spalletti was in the news this week according to reports the Italian will leave Roma if they don’t win the scheutto this season which has caused some panic among the Roma supporters as he has been one of the better Roma managers in recent memory Roma remain 7 points from the top of Serie A. Spalletti would go with a completely different team as he was forced to make many changes to his side due the injuries to many regulars a change was needed. Roma typically runs a 4-5-1 with Manolas, Rudiger, Fazio, Emerson, Nainggolan, Perotti, Dzeko, DeRossi, Strootman and Dzeko with many of those out due to injury Spalletti completely shifted the formation he went from a 5-4-1 to a 3-4-3 a formation Roma have yet to use this season for those that don’t know a 3-4-3 is three defenders four midfielders and three strikers. In goal like always would be Woji Szcz?sny coming off an really good game against Juventus last week he’s done very well this season, news this week regarding the Polish goalkeeper Roma according to reports are ready to go ahead with a permanent deal once his loan expires he is currently is on a two year loan from Arsenal. Roma’s defensive line would look very different with an injury to Manolas it affected the way Spalletti wanted to lineup. At left back making only his 4th appearance in Serie A Thomas Vermaelen the loanee from Barca than at right back would be Antione Rudiger another one of the standouts in Roma loss to Juve than controlling the center would be Fazio since joining in the summer he has started almost every game is probably the glue of the defense. There would be no defensive midfield in this game due to De Rossi being out because a calf related injury he picked up against Juve but thankfully he avoid serious injury and will be revaluated on Wednesday. There would be Four Attacking midfielders, versatile defenders Emerson and Bruno Peres would move up to the midfield playing on the left and Ring wings respectively. In the middle would be Raja Nainggolan and Kevin Strootman a very good unit all players are in very good form at the moment at also it has been proven that both Bruno and Emerson are very capable of playing both midfield and Defender roles this season. Than up front as the strikers Dzeko would have a few strike partners as he is usual alone at the top by himself. Upfront the main man #9 the Big men Edin Dzeko who has 17 goals to his names in total than on the right wing coming off his injury for the start since he’s been out would be Egyptian International Mohammed Salah. On the left it would be Out of Form Steepen El Shaarawy. The 24 year old Italian has been in Spalletti’s dog house as of late not getting picked like he was last season he’s been given the chance to prove himself to his boss. A different look to Roma’s usual team but still a very strong side for the Italian giants.

Roma left in disappointment last weekend in Turin after failing to beat Juventus to potentially close the gap at the top of Serie A this season. Higuaín lone goal would send Juventus’s lead at the top up to 7 points Roma played better throughout the game last weekend. They would return home in a gloomy mood it didn’t help that Spalletti could possibly leave the team if Roma doesn’t capture Serie A this season. They would get back to work with AC Milan dropping points in their last match Roma would create an even bigger gab between 2nd and 3rd. 2nd place Roma (11-2-4) would welcome 11th place (7-4-6) Chievo Verona to the Stadio Olimpico on a very cold Saturday night in Rome. Chevio has won 3 of out their last four games they have been in fine form lately in the last 6 games they have managed only a few points less than roma so it was important that Roma don’t take them lightly it is a team that has the ability to pull off the upset it also was quite an important game for roma can get back on track. Roma was looking to keep their undfeated home record in tact as Chevio looked to pull off another good result against the Romans. After a week of preparation of the game it was finally time to kick off this cold night with some Italian football as they would kick off in Rome in the last game of 2016 before the winter break. From the very start Roma looked in control of the game as they were dominating possession and putting more shots on goal from the very start of the game it looked like a one sided affair Dzeko gave roma they 1st chance of the game just 10 minutes in as he took a shot from the corner of the box in a tight angle scored a very similar goal in Europe this season but this time it would go just wide. Minutes later they would put more pressure of the Flying donkeys as out of Form El Shaarawy had a near goal but it was saved El Shaarawy would get back in Spalletti good graces in the game as he was playing the best football he’s played in months. He was creative made smart passes took good shots even from early in the match he was showing his worth. Salah would have a few more chances for roma over the next 10 minutes but the Donkeys were doing a good job defending but the onslaught of the Roma attack in just seemed like they could only hold them for so long. Chievo didn’t get a lot of chances in the 1st half but in the 21st minute they had a great chance but it went wide. Roma continued to fire at the goal like a firing range with El Shaarawy Dzeko and Salah all getting good chances to score, the best chance for Roma came on a corner where Fazio had a chance at a nearly open goal than shortly after that Bruno hit the post but both were defended well. Roma continued to dominate with the big stars threatening the keeper who was playing out of his mind. Than somthing happened sometimes in football it just takes one chance to break the deadlock. The Flying donkeys would start flying while on the attack Guzman received a good cross from the wing in which he put past Szczesny with a diving header as Chievo would take a shocking 1-0 lead Bruno was out of position letting Guzman free in the box Spalletti was livid. It would be Guzman’s 1st goal this season. Roma’s dominance continued despite the goal they had a thee quick fire chances before they got an outstanding chance of their own. El Shaarawy was pushed over outside the box to set up a free kick in the 45th minute right before the break. EL Shaarawy was doing very well and was given another chance to show his boss what he can do. The 24 Year old Italian lined up to take the free kick with Emerson standing by. El Shaarawy would curl it over the wall to smash it in the top left corner giving the keeper no chance to score a freak goal as he would equalize for Roma to make it 1-1. It would be El Shaarawy’s 4th goal of the season and his 10th for Roma since joining last January. It would end even after the first 45 minutes.

Despite an equal score Roma was the much superior side in the 1st half they managed 15 shots in the 1st half an astounding amount for any team really they have had many games where they had less than 15 the fact that they put up 15 shots makes it clear which way the game is going. No changes were made at the beginning out the second half. The 2nd half started a lot like the 1st Roma were clearly the stronger side it seemed like Chevio was just chasing the game as Roma’s counter attack was just too strong to with stand and in the 53rd minute Roma took advantage of the opportunity and once again the Brilliance of El Shaarawy ignited the play. Bruno gave a short pass to Raja from the wing than, El Shaarawy caught Raja Nainggolan near perfect through ball than began dribble towards the box where Dzeko was waiting in the middle once he approached the box he attempted to split the defense as he tried to put the ball between the two in front of him one of them stuck his foot out and stopped the pass but El Shaarawy took the ball right back than sent in to Dzeko than the Bosnian put it past the keeper for an easy score to give Roma the 2-1 it would be Dzeko’s 13th goal in Serie A this season and 18th total he has been an absolute beast this season. Nice goal by Dzeko put the set up and the pass by El Shaarawy that led to the goal was nothing short of pure football brilliance. Roma’s high power attack would continue to do well several minutes after the goal Bruno would come close but his shot went just wide. It continued and continued Roma fired another 10 shots in the 2nd half. One of the best chances of the game came in the 71st minute they were given a golden chance to put the game away for good after a through ball pass misfired Bruno picked the ball up on the wing Crossed it back in to the big striker Dzeko got a head to it came within inches of scoring. Than in the 82nd minute Dzeko got yet another goal scoring opportunity got a good pass from Salah leading to a 1 on1 with the keeper but the Keeper made a tremendous save Dzeko’s face told it all he just couldn’t believe it. Afterwards Spalletti would go to his bench to make his 1st sub of the game Salah would come off and coming on would be Diego Perotti Roma’s Penalty specialist. He would go on to make his impact right away in the 90th minute Diego charged into the box and was tripped the referee would immediately point to the spot as he was gifted a chance to put the game away for good. Diego Perotti stepped up and has expected put it past the keeper to give Roma the 3-1 lead it would be Perotti’s 7th goal of the season. After the goal Roma made one more Sub Dzeko would come off for Juan Iturbe a run out for the last two minutes it would end as a 3-1 win for the Giallorossi.

With Roma’s win it decreases Juventus’s lead to 4 points for now at least with Juve’s game cancelled it is very possible they will move back up to a 7 point lead as Juve will face Crotone. The Win also creates separation from 3rd as they now have 3 point difference. The win ends Chievo’s winning streak as well as starts a win streak of their own it’s a great way to end 2016 they will start off the new year against 13th place Genoa as well as their upcoming Round of 16 match against Villarreal. At the end of 2016 Roma are currently in 2nd with 38Pts 12 wins 2Draws and 4 Losses a very good way to start the season. Edin Dzeko is Roma’s leading goal scorer this season with 18 Goals with Diego Perotti with the top Assists man this season with 5. It’s going to be a big second half of the season for Roma! See You Next You and Thanks for the Support!
