Monchi works his magic again as Roma secure yet another deal wrapping up with 5th signing of the summer in one of the most active transfer window Roma have had in a long time. Despite Roma’s recent sale of Antino Rudiger to Chelsea for 34 Million Roma have added in more depth to the team. Roma have already brought it Hector Moreno (5 Million) from PSV, Lorenzo Pellegrini (10 Million) from Sassuolo, Rick Karsdorp (19 Million) from Feyenoord and Maxime Gonalons (5 Million) From Olympique Lyonnais. Roma have recently Reached an agreement with İstanbul Başakşehir F.K. for Turkish youngster Cengiz Ünder shattering the Super Liga transfer record on a 16 million deal. Prior to the move to Roma Ünder was originally targeted by Pep Guardiola and Manchester City a deal had nearly been in place before Roma entered the race for the talented striker. Manchester City planned to loan him to Bundesliga side Freiburg as the two clubs agreed on a two year loan. However Monchi and Roma hijacked the deal as Monchi had told Ünder and his agent that he will get first team football right away this season. The deal had been agreed on last Thursday the youngster flew to Rome arriving at Fiumicino airport with his agent and his family Friday night. He would complete his medical a day later signing a 5-Year deal with the Italian giants. Cengiz Ünder played in the 2nd tier to start his playing career playing two seasons for Altınordu F.K scoring 11 goals in 51 appearances and most recently played for with İstanbul Başakşehir F.K scoring 7 goals in 25 games last season. He is considered one of the best young talents in Europe and he has been often Referred to As the “Turkish Dybala” the kid’s potential is unbelievable Roma will get what they paid for. Not only is the signing a very good deal of business by Roma but it gives Roma another attacking option as well. it also gives Roma another striker option other than Dzeko. He can play the role well and could be a secondary option for when the Big Bosnian needs rest he can also play midfield as well
they are many spots where they can play him he adds youth to the Eusebio Di Francesco’s team upon the players arrival this is what his agent had to say about the move and this roma project “Roma was the right project for both Cengiz Under and Basaksehir. Monchi was a big factor. Roma wanted Cengiz to join the first team immediately. Manchester City, on the other hand, wanted to cooperate with Freiburg. Roma play 50 to 60 games a year. Their relentless desire to sign Cengiz was really effective”. The Young Turk was very excited to sign for Roma “I am happy,” he told reporters on his 20th birthday. A new adventure begins for me. Forza Roma!” yet another great deal of Business for the Giallorossi as Monchi is working the magic. The magic will only continue in coming weeks as Monchi is in the middle of ongoing talks with former PFA Player of the year and Premier League winner Leicester City’s Ryaid Marhez. Monchi he delivering everything he has promised he has been a game changer for Roma the signing of Cengiz Under signals his intent.
Cengiz Under Arrives in Roma Friday On his 20th Birthday to complete his move to Roma as the Giallorossi Supporters Greeted him Upon his Arrival
Roma have signed one of the best young prospects in Europe in Cengiz Under his rapid rise through the senior team is quite impressive went from the a 2nd tier Turkish team to one of the biggest clubs in Europe in just a short amount of time. He rose through the ranks of the various academies’ to earn his senior debut as a teenager. He joined the Bucaspor academy a team in the Turkish second tier during the in 2012 he was just 15 years old when he joined. His talented was spotted right away the young striker was considered an up and coming star in Turkish football. He only spent one season with Bucaspor as the youngster he left just after one season to join Altınordu F.K. another team in the Turkish second tier. It was a move that developed him into a great young player he spent a year in their youth set up developing his game into something great he was becoming a very special player in 2014 he made his debut for the senior side for the 2014-2015 season. He was still only just 17 years old a player with a lot of potential he was giving a chance to prove himself. In that first season he was nothing short of spectacular he made 20 appearances and scored 5 goals in his first season for a kid to come into a team regardless of league and do so well was great to see during his debut season the team did very well a lot having to do with Under’s development Altınordu F.K. went on to finish 7th that year. The next summer He would start getting noticed by the various Turkish national teams as he played for the U-19’s on several occasions being capped 9 times for them. In his second season as a senior player in 2015-2016 with Altınordu F.K. he would improve on his impressive debut season he would become an key player on the team at just 18 years old he went on to make 31 appearances scoring 6 goals the potential of how good he could become would only become more clearer after his second season despite Altınordu F.K finish 10th it was clear he was ready for a new challenge. It would became even more noticeable as other clubs started to take an interest in the young Turk he would start getting referred to the “Turkish Dybala” by the Turkish media. After to spending three years playing for Altınordu F.K. he would say good bye in two seasons with the senior team he would rack up 51 appearances and scored 11 goals He would leave to improve his progression as a young star leaving in favor of Turkey’s top flight transferring to Super Liga side İstanbul Başakşehir F.K. This last season playing among Turkey’s best for in the 2016-2017 season he only improved on his past performances. Making 34 appearances last year scoring 7 goals dishing out 5 assists Ünder completed 495 passes last season with a pass accuracy of 78%, of which 67% were forward passes he also created 38 chances for his teammates. He truly proved to be a player maker this season he played a big factor in İstanbul Başakşehir’s title challenge last season despite being considered the 3rd best team in Istanbul they finished above both Fenerbahce and Galatasaray İstanbul Başakşehir’s finished slightly above both teams getting 2nd in the league as well as pushing Beşiktaş to breaking point at times. At the end of his last season in turkey he made his debut for the Turkey national team making 4 appearances scoring in two games against Moldova and Kosovo. It was clear that he was one of the best young talents in Turkish football after the season he started to attract interests from Manchester United and Manchester City but a late push from Monchi and Roma got the deal done as the youngster opted for the Italian Capital as he would break the Super Liga Transfer Record. He certainly adds youth with quality to the side another big move made by Monchi only adding to the team.
Monchi add yet another weapon to their offence adding more to an already strong attack that scored 123 goals in all competitions last season. Monchi really did pull some strings to pull this on off Cengiz Under was on the verge of the move to Manchester City but was reluctant to make the move due to Manchester City’s plans to send him on loan. Roma’s Transfer Guru Sporting Director Monchi had discussed his plans for the player held meeting with his agent after Roma’s offer was made Monchi expressed to the Young Turk that he would get immediate first team experience going into the first team right way. Weather he goes straight into the starting 11 is another question in itself but he will get a good amount of games this season Monchi offered him a better alternative which played a part in the deal. A Deal that makes perfect sense for him and Monchi’s Roma project He’s a very talented young player There’s a reason why there were several clubs after him but if you look at it from his perspective he’s going to get immediate game time not necessarily as a starter but he will get playing time this season and that’s key for young player developing within the squad is what he’s going to need. I think he’s going to be brilliant for Roma it gives Roma another Striker option other than Dzeko. Manchester City at the moment are better team but if you look at the opportunities he’s going to get from his perspective I think he made the right choice. Plus Man City already have a ton of young Talent within their Squad like Patrick Roberts and others a lot of their loan players did really well last year which means Man City are going to be able to consistently put together a good team in years to come he would have added to that but the opportunities for him are greater at Roma. The biggest part of the is another striker option Dzeko had to carry the striker position completely alone which he clearly did well with his 39 goals but Roma didn’t have a secondary option now they do. Under isn’t just a striker he plays on the wing as well he will in all likelihood he will share time with Diego Perotti and Stephen EL Shaarawy on the wing as well as being used as a possible sub for Dzeko when he needs rest. Under is a big time play maker an electric dribbler and has tremendous upside for a 20 year old he is most known for his breathtaking speed that can fill an asset that Salah brought to the team amazing pace he is just quick. He also is a gifted as dribbler and passer which are skills Roma desperately need on the wing. I think he is more likely to play on the wing than a striker but I imagine he will do both this season I think he can co-exist well in Roma Manager Eusebio Di Francesco suspected 4-3-3 formation. He could be used as a massive weapon in the passing game not only does he play well with the ball at his feet but he can be a massive tool on the counter attack as he creates a lot of chances for his team mates and unlike in Turkey the players around of him have a lot of quality scoring options such as Dzeko who could really take advantage from the service he will receive from the youngster as well as countless others. The signing also adds great depth to the Roman attack having Raja Nainggolan, Perotti, El Shaarawy, Pellegrini, Strootman and countless others his youth will certain give Roma a boast in crucial situations. I could even argue that this signing could be an upgrade from departing Leandro Paredes. He has done it at every level been very successful at club level and with the national team his scoring record is pretty incredible and is off to a great start with the Turkey National team. This Roma move is perfect for him I believe he will flourish in serie A the Turkish speedster is very versatile and can break down the defense no problem he also is a very intelligent player makes quick smart decisions has a very strong powerful shot and is very accurate passer a finisher has the goal scoring ability to be a success in Italy he is only 20 years old that’s what is scary he will only get better with time when he starts to mature this could be one of the best players in the league. A Deathly weapon to have in your team if Roma can also add Mahrez to this dangerous attack the Romans could be beyond deadly next season. This Young Turk hasn’t even dipped into how could he could be he knows how to perform against the big teams in the big moment he has proven that time and time again on top of that the lessons he can learn from the vets on this team and can help him develop into one of the best players in the Italian football this is only the beginning.
