Roma vs Chelsea Preview #126

The Champions League returns as we look forward to another Instant classic. Coming from the Group C known by many as the Group of Death. Premier League Champions Chelsea set to take of the Italian Giants A.S Roma for second time in the group after having battled just 13 days ago. On that European Night in London we got to see what a special cup tie these teams really are are among the best in their current countries. In that 3-3 Thriller in London we saw some of the biggest stars delivering on the biggest stage with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Roma’s Edin Dzeko. As their clubs big stars delivered in the most important moments of the game as we saw Edin Dzeko lead Roma back from 2-0 down to eventually go up 3-2. As well as Hazard’s brilliance helping Chelsea salvage a point it one of the most entertaining champions league matches in some time. This is a very important match for the landscape of the group. Chelsea are top with 7 points Roma are second with 5 then Atletico Madrid are 3 points behind. Three points for Chelsea will confirm their status in the knockout round and any amount of points for Roma could derail Atletico Madrid. Going into this game the big news from Chelsea’s side of things is N’golo Kante will be fit for Roma I’m not sure how much he will play because Conte probably should ease him in rather then just throwing him out there. Last time it was a six goal thriller I just don’t see that happening again here I think it will be a very close low scoring game. Based on form both team remain pretty even since the game Chelsea have won three straight but did have trouble with Watford. While Roma have had a trio of 1-0 victories as they maintained their league’s best defense with Alisson racking up the clean sheets as he now has 7. Roma have been playing very effective football. Unlike Chelsea Roma have rested a lot of their better players over the last few weeks I think Roma will be sharper and once again come out attacking strong. Roma does also have one of the best defenses in Europe and despite being with out Bruno Peres and Manolas they will have a defensive plan to trap Chelsea. They will have their hands full with scoring threats from Álvaro Morata and Eden Hazard who gave Roma some problems in their last meeting. If they are to have success against Roma the Italians are going to need to be able to hit back with what they have. Edin Dzeko scored two goals last time these two teams met he will be a serious threat. The Bosnian hasn’t scored since the first Chelsea game and he will be looking to get back on the score sheet Radja Nainggolan who is another that will cause them problems if these two are at their best Roma have a great Chance to win the game. However that’s not where I’m looking from this Roma side there is one that comes to mind that Chelsea wont prepare for. Stephen El Shaarawy if he starts will cause major havoc on the Chelsea defense. His movement with out the ball is exceptional and has excellent pace. The Chelsea defense will not be able to contain him when he gets in position and has a scoring chance most of the time he puts them away. Both team in excellent form and a ready for another battle Roma has the freshness and their had the home advantage but in football anything can happen.
