Roma vs SPAL Preview #138

Roma vs SPAL Preview #138

Following loss to Atletico Madrid and controversial draw to Serie A strugglers Genoa Roma return to home to try to get back on the right track. Roma prepare to host 19th SPAL at the Stadio Olimpico. Roma are looking to rebound after dropping points in a game they deserved to win as they coughed up a second half penalty away to Genoa due to De Rossi’s slap in the box. It ended their away win streak of 12 straight wins. De Rossi will miss this game as well as the Chievo game as the Italian FA gave him a two match ban. Also this week Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan was selected to the SERIE A TEAM OF THE SEASON for the 3rd time. Roma’s Edin Dzeko and Liverpool’s Mouhamed Salah both being snubbed which I find utterly ridiculous. This upcoming game against SPAL we could see Patrick Schick get his first start since the move to the Capital as the Roma record signing is now heathy. When Schick is at his best he is pure quality with Dzeko still having not scored quite a while this adds another scoring options an addition to El Shaarawy who has been carrying the load. Roma and SPAL have never played each other in their history. SPAL won Serie B last season gaining promotion to the Italian top flight for the very first time. This shouldn’t be anything short of a Roma drubbing of SPAL Roma have beaten the other two promoted teams 4-0 in each. With the title race getting even tougher its important that Roma get three points here no excuses. Roma currently sit 21 points above their counterparts SPAL just doesn’t have the quality in there squad to really compete with Eusebio Di Francesco’s Roma side who have quality throughout the squad. Dzeko has struggled to find the back of the net lately after his quick fire start he has 10 goals this season 7 in league play. We know he can find the back of the net he scored 39 goals last year in total was the top goal scorer in the league and the Europa league last season. He hasn’t been playing poorly but we know he has capable of putting the goal in the back of net more consistency he has 59 Roma goals in three seasons we need to get him going if we truly want to chase the scudetto. El Shaarawy has done a wonderful job finding the back of the net him with an Inform Dzeko as well as a young Patrick Schick not to mention a world class Nainggolan in the midfield is exactly what Roma needs in the big games. I really don’t see a way SPAL breaks through the countries best defense I know I say this quite often but SPAL have less quality players then Genoa. I see a dramatic response  to disappointment result on the weekend. This should be easy work of a side in the relegation zone I see Dzeko ending his scoring slump as Di Francesco and Roma to get back on track.
