Roma vs Inter Milan Preview #162

Inner Piece

As the winter break comes to a close this week we return to league action after a two week break. Roma are in a horrid run of form with only two wins in their last ten and its only going to be more difficult over the next few weeks. The Romans head out to Milan this week to face off against Inter Milan in a battle of two teams that desperately need to get their season back on track. Inter Milan in their own right has massively struggled  who are winless in their last 5 including losing two of their last four. It is a make or break for both teams both sides has seemingly  exited the title race as the title drought will continue for both teams as Roma loss to Atalanta and Inter’s draw with Fiorentina. The two teams met on the second match day of the season in which Inter controversially won after Roma could of been 2-0 up having a penalty claim denied. Roma will head to the San Siro this weekend on Sunday night to take on an equally dysfunctional Inter Milan as Roma will see some familiar faces as Spalletti tries to pull one over his former team. Their has been a lot of rumors surrounding  Roma players over the transfer window the biggest one being an alleged move to China for Radja Nainggolan however I’m not sure how much truth is too it. Roma need to come out and save their season getting back in form is needed we need all the players to come out strong and ignore the rumors. Roma’s record at the San Siro lately isn’t bad as they went there and ripped Inter up last season with a world class performance from the Inter Killer Radja Nainggolan. He has scored more goals against Inter then any other Serie A club. The recent winter break could push Roma back into good form as both sides would like to kick start their season with several key matchups that will likely determine the result. On paper Roma is the better team only a fool would say other wise but this is a unique situation it will come down to who will perform better on their day with both managers under fire lately i see a incredible match on the cards. For Inter Milan Marco Icardi is the man as he is the second highest scorer in the league this season (Behind Ciro Immobile) he has delivered on what is asked of him. However his defense has failed him a problem that Roma will surely try to take advantage of. On the other hand Roma’s defense is the best in the league and their keeper Alisson is the best in the league this season as well . Roma have finally got into a very comfortable back four that has performed well the majority of the season. While their attack lacks of goals continues to be a problem their chance creation isn’t an issue they create more chances then almost anyone but putting away their chances has been a serious issue the absence of Mouhamed Salah has really hurt the team. Edin Dzeko has 9 goals in the league and 12 goals in total but hasn’t scored at the same consistency he was at last year his Impact will be key in this game and beyond. Its important to build a good attack given the fact they will have to deal with Ivan Perisic, Candreva and Marco Icardi. Up front I think Roma need to continue to play Dzeko and Schick together with either El Shaarawy or Perotti on the wing. In the Roma midfield I’d play with the trio of Gerson, Nainggolan and Pellegrini. It will be a tough match for both sides its another game that Roma need to win i cant say they will win for certain with the current form but they have it in them if they execute they can turn this around.
