FIFA World Cup Preview Group H #176

1. Poland: Winners
Poland to me are the clear-cut winners in this group no question about it as I talked about some of the other groups about one player having to rely on. That may be the situation with Poland however if you had to rely on one player and that player happens to be Robert Lewandowski you would definitely take that. The Polish striker in my opinion is the best striker in World football. He’s more complete than Harry Kane he’s more efficient than Suarez. He scored an astounding 20 goals in qualifying for this tournament more than any other more than Messi more than Ronaldo. He knows where the Net is and he knows how to score goals he will be a machine in this tournament whether or not Poland go deep I don’t know but you would bet your house on him scoring goals in this tournament. Poland already have an advantage because of this they also have a brilliant goalkeeper.Szczensy joined Juventus this summer to ultimately replace the goat Buffon. He has been tremendous in that starting role and has had some incredible performances. While the Midfield and defense may not be at the highest level if Robert Lewandowski can score goals and the Szczęsny can keep them out I think Poland will have no problem getting through to The Knockout rounds. I think how far they go in this tournament will rely on Lewandowski is ability to score if he is at his very best not only will Poland win the group but they will go on a run in this tournament Poland made the quarterfinals in and Euro 2016 it’s possible they could do it again here in Russia. Not the most well-balanced team there is but if Robert Lewandowski is fit Poland to win this group.

2. Columbia Runners up
Columbia took third in the Copa America and reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Brazil. Let’s be honest they’re not the same team but they’re certainly still a good enough team to Make Some Noise here. James Rodriguez won the Golden Boot scoring six goals in the last World Cup. That was the peak of his ability at least that’s what most people thought at Real Madrid he never really developed into the star we all hoped he would. However now that he’s at Bayern Munich You could argue he is their best player and the success of Colombia in this world cup is on his shoulders however he’s not alone. He will have help from a certain Juan Cuadrado from Juventus and Falcao from Monaco. This team has a very balanced attack going forward they’re not bad defensively either but their attack is where they are most effective if they can keep clean sheets and continue to score goals they should have no issue getting through this group I don’t think they will win it despite the fact they might have more depth but I think they can make it a very close group between them and Poland this is another team that could go on a run unexpectedly. I know it’s unlikely they will repeat their success from last time around but with the team they have it is a possibility especially if they finished second that they can make another quarter finals appearance Columbia to finish second in this group.

Manager: José Pékerman
Qualifying Place: 4th in CONMEBOL
Key Player: James Rodriguez, Bayern
Last World Cup: 2014 Brazil ,Quarterfinals

3.Senegal
I think Senegal have a very good team and are capable of going through to the next round. However I don’t think it’s meant to be. In another group maybe they could have gone through but I think the challenge ahead is just too much. Senegal will finish third in this group in my opinion they have a very good team with a strong attack and defense. Sadio Mane of Liverpool is there big home run hitter he will be the guy Supply the goals for this African side. As far as attacking players he’s the best  along with keita diao. These two will be completely crucial for how well they do in Russia this summer there are other pieces that may help as well with a idrissa geueye controlling the Midfield. I could be wrong this could be a team that could surprise people they do have some quality players that certainly have the ability to show what they can do. However Columbia and Poland have better Star players than Senegal and that is the main reason I’m picking them to finish third in this group I’m not saying you need them but when you have them pulling the strings I find it difficult to think that Senegal will be able to outdo Columbia and Poland. I think third is a very respectable finish for this nation.

Manager: Aliou Cissé

4.Japan

I think it is quite possible Japan and Senegal finish on the same amount of points. There’s not much to spare between the two teams this Japanese team is lead by Shinji Kagawa the Dortmund midfielder and Shinji okazaki the Leicester Striker. They have a decent team a few Stars but a lot of players that aren’t as known I do not have a lot of info on some of the others for all I know they could play together brilliantly and I’ve seen Japan a few times this year they just don’t seem like they have enough quality to tip them over the edge to qualify for further in the tournament. I don’t think they’re expecting to get out of the group so I think for them success will be putting together some really good performances and throughout the experience. Much like Senegal I do not believe they have enough Firepower to truly make a run in this group a good team and maybe in a different group things could go differently but given the situation I’d say it’s unlikely for them to go through I have them finishing bottom but they could finish either third or fourth depending on how they play in the summer.

Manager: Vahid Halilhodžić
Qualifying Place: AFC Third Round Group B winner
Key Player: Shinji Kagawa, Dortmund
