A.S Roma vs A.C Milan Preview #193

After Roma’s recent 2-1 loss to Shakhtar Donetsk in a freezing night in Ukraine for the Champions League round of 16. Roma return Serie A reaction to try to make it four wins in a row in the league. Roma return home as prepare to open the doors of the Stadio Olimpico to red hot AC Milan. In a massive match between two of Italy’s biggest clubs. Roma got the better of AC Milan in the first meeting this season winning 2-0 at the San Siro. Roma currently are on a 5 game winning streak against the Milan Giants. Roma have bullied AC Milan in recent years Roma’s last loss to Milan goes back all the way to 2013. However both teams remain hungry as they fight for their European ambitions with the Roma fighting for the Champions League while AC Milan look to try to get back into the Europa League. A massive game for two teams who have got hot at exactly the right time.

A.S Roma

Despite Roma’s recent loss the Ukraine on Wednesday they did manage to get an away goal which will prove to be important when the second leg arrives. Despite an abysmal second half in the first half Roma looked pretty good the most positive thing of the evening a part from Roma’s away goal was what he continued to rise of Turkish Winger Cengiz Under. He has gone from some of the unknown to a superstar. As he has scored five goals since the turn of the year. He has scored in 4 games in a row there’s no reason why he can’t do the same here. He has become such a dangerous player for Roma and I see him as a key player in this matchup once again Roma will need him to deliver the quality once again as they go up against a red hot Milan team. Despite the loss in a very Dreadful second-half showing I think it’s important that Di Francesco does not panic and make a rash decision with his team. He was very angry and Wednesday’s game and understandably so but I think it’s important he doesn’t shy away from what has worked. I believe they should keep the same formation they have over the last few weeks it has shown to be a much more effective then the 4-3-3 formation Roma was using during the first half of the season. I think some changes can be made within the side. I personally would start either Gerson or Pellegrini instead of the De Rossi he is legend to this club but I think Roma might need that youth against Milan but I do feel should come onto the sub but I wouldn’t start him. It also may be a good idea to start the Midfield line of Perotti Radja Nainggolan and Under. But El Shaarawy could be a good option too he has done really well against his former club. I don’t think Roma have to change too much they have more quality in their squad than Milan does but they must stay focused and show that they belong in the Champions League. I think Nainggolan will also be essential in creating scoring opportunities for Dzeko upfront. Roma’s defensive Tendencies need to improve for this game with Allison in goal you always have a chance for a shutout but with that being said Roma’s defense need to do a better job they must be defensive Florenzi and Kolarov must help going forward that’s how they can break down Milan. Roma are at home a place where they have struggled but with their supporters backing them Francesco and Roma should be able to deal with Milan. Roma very much want to hold on to their third position a win here would strengthen that.

AC Milan

AC Milan splashed out over a hundred million in cash to put them in the race for the title it evidently backfire as Milan has been hot and cold throughout the entire season. However they want to get back in Europe and shoot up the table as much as they can. They have finally found their groove and are unbeaten in the last seven. they have a solid team that can compete with Roma but it depends on end up seeing they are hot right now but they can easily get cold very quickly. When you look at their team not very many players to jump out at you it will be on the shoulders of two players in my opinion. Suso and Patrick Cutrone these two have been the bright spot in Milan’s recent hot streak. Roma have more quality then them but the pair are very important for their chances. They Have the ability to score and create goals which is something they are going to have to deal with Milan’s manager seems that he is finally getting the hang of things after a dodgy start. In his early days in the job. Milan do not have a stone wall defense but have a couple figures that can make attacking players frustrated. Leonardo bonucci one of my favorite defenders in the world and absolute quality Talent who is one of the best in World football he can certainly be a headache to play against. Not to mention they’re young keeper donnarumma he’s not the quality of Allison and he can be beaten but on his day as among the best in Italian football. Another player that could make an impact is Franck kessie if he plays his role well he may be able to give Milan more opportunities score it will be tough they are away from home in stadio olimpico against a team that has owned of them over the past several seasons but if we see Milan on their day they have the chance.

Bottom line

for Roma the key to success quite a simple strategy. if Roma are able to neutralize suso and Cutrone it eliminates any attacking threat if they are able to stop them they can take Milan out of the game because when the two of them are not performing at the highest level Milan struggle. Roma also need Nainggolan play the way he did last weekend. Chance creation is key Roma need to pass at a high velocity to get there stars involved Radja is the catalyst of that. they need to get the Cengiz Under to get as many opportunities as possible with Dzeko up front you give him service he will deliver Under and Dzeko are extremely important for Radja to create chances Roma have an advantage in their defense as well the height Federico Fazio will disrupt AC Milan due to their under-sized team. For Milan they must do whatever they can to slow down under they will not stop him but if they could just slow him down they might have a chance at this. Milan’s defense is extremely important if a Roma’s game plan collapses Milan have a chance to take advantage they basically need to catch them sleeping. In all honesty despite their hot streak they’re attacking options doesn’t scare me and I think ultimately Roma will have too much for Milan to pull the upset.
