Coming off a very disappointing loss to AC Milan on Sunday night at home at the stadio olimpico Roma see their position dropped two places in the standings falling out of the Champions League places in the process. It gets even more difficult this week as Roma travel to the San Paulo Stadium in Naples to take on League leaders Napoli in a big Showdown. Roma and Napoli will be facing for the second time this season with Napoli winning the first meeting and a narrow 1-0 win at the stadio olimpico. This is a massive game for Napoli as they continue to fight off Juventus for the title. As well for Roma who want to get themselves back into the Champions League spots as the battle for it only intensifies.
Roma find themselves in a very difficult situation after their loss at home. As a Di Francesco is under Fire once again I personally back him as Roma’s manager and will continue to do so but getting results is very important in a Roma side that appears to be rebuilding while having the pressure to challenge the title. Last week against Milan Roma changed formation going back to the 4-3-3 after having success with the 4-2-3-1 which to me was quite a controversial and a risky decision. Roma are facing a very tough opponent in what will be a hostile territory for the Derby Del Sol known as the Derby of the Sun. Napoli are the best team in the league and probably be most entertaining team in football this season. From head to toe they have non-stop quality. Edin dzeko should be put back into the starting lineup after coming off the bench last week whether or not he’s in good form is irrelevant on his day he has world-class capabilities and for that reason alone he needs to be put back in the starting Striker spot. Another player that is a must-start is Diego Perotti who is quietly has been one of their best players this season I’d also like to see El Shaarawy get back into the team this does not mean he needs to start but I would consider it. Roma’s Turkish youngster Cengiz Under has been spectacular of the last few weeks I believe he should remain in his spot but players can be rotated. Roma can’t mess about they need to put out their strongest side. Roma must play their strongest side Roma as usual defense has to come back intact. The Midfield from last week could probably stay the same with Strootman, Pellegrini and Nainggolan. No risks can be taken here the magnitude of this match cannot be understated. In this game I believe Radja Nainggolan is the key for Roma he needs to be able to give service and play his game he has that mental toughness that can make it very difficult to play against if he is at his best he will make Napoli work for it. Diego Perotti is another that I believe could be key for them since he has return from injury he has been one of the most informed players lately. Roma must continue to play him because he will give Roma scoring opportunities. Alisson is another that needs to be at his best when he is at his best he is incredibly difficult to score on in this game especially this is important given the attack that will be going at them. Roman need to finish better in front of goal because there’s never a lack of chances it’s a lack of finishing. Di Francesco and Roma will have a huge task at hand. Roma’s away form is pretty good this season to give them some hope but the hostile crowd will be difficult to deal with.
The team from Naples are playing better then practically anyone in World football At the moment. They are in exceptional form on paper they are almost to the point of unbeatable. Napoli are the top of the league and they continue to get results in hope to Dethrone Juventus of their 6 year reign. Napoli are winners of 13 straight games in the league the league leaders have not lost a game since December 1st against Juventus. I’ve been saying this all season they are the most explosive and entertaining team in the world this season and that includes Man City. They play brilliant football and the attacking options they have to their disposal can put fear into any team. In they’re very attacking 4-4-3 they can run teams over with their pace explosiveness and their ability to hit the target on a consistent basis they are just hot right now. In their attack with Lorenzo Insigne, Dries Mertens and Jose Callejon their attack are unstoppable if they get into space where they can operate on the counter it’s basically game over because of how quick and fast they are. Lorenzo insigne is responsible for 17 goals this season six goals and seven assists while Mertens is currently 4th in the league with 17 goals of his own in addition to that Jose Callejon has 8 goals and 5 assists in his own right. Napoli’s attack is as deadly as anyone they will punish you if you make mistakes. If they get into dangerous positions it’s done. In the Midfield they’re equally strong with Jorginho Marek hamsik and Allen who are all capable of not only scoring but fueling counter attacks for their front three when they are able to supply their Strikers with service there’s really nothing you can do about it. A very strong Midfield with many options on the bench. They have a decent enough defense with Koulibaly and a decent keeper in Pepe Reina Napoli has quality all around. Their defense isn’t as strong as it could be so it’s possible to score on them but their attack is so good that they don’t need to be Rock Solid in the back even though they are very good. As far as who is the impact player in this game take your pick it literally could be anyone on this entire team but I’m going to go with Lorenzo insigne he quite frankly terrifies me one of the most underrated players around but also one of the most dangerous. They have all the intangible skill to keep their winning run going.
when Napoli and Roma faced off for the first time this season it was a very close game with Roma being a bit unlucky hitting the crossbar three times throughout the 90 minutes it was a narrow victory for Napoli with a Lorenzo insigne goal being the difference. Roma haven’t quite got Back to the form they showed at the beginning of the season but they are in better form then they were in the month of December where they struggle to win in seven games. the bottom line for Roma is the have the ability to beat Napoli and it would be such a defining moment in the season if they were able to do it because of their Chase for the champions league and what it would mean for the title race with Juventus having a game in hand it could derail Napoli. If this is to happen Roma have to find some way to slow down the attack and able to counter it with goals it is.The only way to beat this Napoli team is hit back with your own attack. Radja Nainggolan will be very important he will need to play out of his mind to give Roma a chance. As Roma tries to avoid their third loss in a row. Napoli is playing unbelievable type football very Barcelona like in terms of style they are ripping teams apart if they find one gap in Roma’s defense they can exploit it could be game over Alison is a world-class goalkeeper but with the attack they have eventually they could score on him. Right now Napoli is just too good Roma needs to play their best football of the season just to slow them down Napoli is just on another level they’re playing total football a lot of quick passing creating counter attacks they are just punishing teams. As much as my heart says I want Roma to win this game you just don’t know what you’re going to get from Roma they could have a great day and they could have a really bad day. I think Roma will show up on the day and do everything it takes to keep it close but in the end I don’t think it will be enough I think Napoli will take advantage when they get their opportunities as Napoli will take the derby Del Sol in what will be a very tense matchup with everything on the line for both teams.
