A.S Roma vs Crotone Preview #205

Coming off Roma’s advancement to the quarterfinals after beating shakhtar Donetsk on away goals to make their first quarter finals in 10 years. Roma will return to League action as they’re prepare for their match on Sunday against Crotone. As Roma travel to Crotone to be welcomed by the relegation side in need of points. Roma have only played against Crotone three times in their history winning each of them. Roma beat them earlier this season at home in A 1-0 victory for the Romans as they look to complete a season sweep of Crotone.

Eusebio Di Francesco and roma are in High Spirits after getting into Europe’s Elite eight as they made the last 8 in the Champions League. The aura around this club at the moment is very high the confidence is through the roof at the moment and it would take heroic effort to damper that. Forget the champions league for a moment Roma in the league have won five of six matches as they are really starting to gather a lot of momentum going forward this season. The Battle for 3rd only continues but as we saw last week Roma are starting to create separation with three points and four point leads above Lazio and Inter Milan respectively. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a very similar team on Sunday as we saw against shakhtar in the Champions League. Once Roma got comfortable they were absolutely ruthless. With their squad from top to bottom they have quality and much of their team is in form. Their front three of Perotti Under and Dzeko has been immense. Roma have been extremely strong in the Midfield led by their World Class of Belgian Radja Nainggolan. Not to mention their exceptional defense and their world-class goalkeeper Alison Becker. Things are going well so I don’t see too many changes being made whether they do or not I don’t see Roma having much trouble and this matchup. I could see Pellegrini coming in for the Rossi who will likely be given rest after his hard work but that’s it I think they should for the most part keep the same team. In all honesty we must respect Crotone but the difference in quality and in confidence is massive Roma will be able to break them down early and often and if Roma can make the presence felt in the first half it could get ugly. If they play strong in the first half as they always do in the second there’s nothing that can stop them from picking up three points especially as they’re trying to create separation from inter and Lazio. My two key players for Roma in this game is edin dzeko and Cengiz Under. Dzeko has seemed to get his form back scoring in the goal to send them through in the Champions League on Tuesday. I see him playing a big part in this game as well they cannot deal with the size and power That Dzeko does have. I believe he has four goals in three games against this team. The other key player being Under he has come out firing in 2018 proven to be one of the best players on this team recently having overtaking El Shaarawy in the starting lineup. the young Turkish Talent has six goals since the start of 2018 and a scored The crucial goal in the first leg against shakhtar to give Roma that much important away-goal advantage. I see nothing short of a class performance from Roma after the excitement of getting into the quarterfinals in the Champions League confidence is at an all-time high. With Roma’s away form it gives them a high advantage.

Last season Crotone pulled off one of the greatest escapes we’ve ever seen an Italian football. As great as that story was they find themselves in trouble once again. They aren’t the worst team in the league by any stretch but their safety is up for debate at this point. Benevento and Verona are pretty clear-cut candidates to go down. However SPAL & Sassuolo are even on points with Crotone with 24 it’s going to be a battle between these three on who will stay up. Despite being in the 16th in the table they need points and they need them now they don’t have time to waste. So this is the worst possible time for them to play a Roma team that just Advanced to the champions league quarter-final and are hot at the moment. Crotone form over the last 5 Games isn’t great only one win in their last five and two of those losses came against benevento and Spal the very teams they are fighting against for safety. I don’t think they have a chance in this game Roma are playing excellent and have a great deal of confidence and Crotone just don’t have it in them they have never beaten them. Adrian Stoian might offer something for them he’s my key player for Journey in this match but there’s only so much he can do.

Bottom line

There’s two teams here one is in the quarterfinals of the Champions League and is fighting to return to that very competition. While the other just needs points because safety is looking Bleecker and Bleecker by the moment. What Crotone did last season was incredible in the way they survived but it’s not looking good this season . Roma just advanced to the quarter-finals of the Champions League they have won 5 out of 6 and they are deadly on the road. Nothing really goes into Crotone’s favor they have never beaten Roma and they aren’t going to start now this game is only ever going to go one way and that is as a Roma victory Roma will pick them apart.
