This summer they have secured the services of a lot of Young Talent potential Superstars and seasonal veterans Monchi has made things happen this summer as he’s pulling together a team that is capable of winning multiple League titles. Roma close the book on another signing this afternoon. This comes after the transfer Fiasco Monday as we saw Roma and Bordeaux agreed to a deal in regards to Winger Malcom. Unfortunately it all blew up despite an agreement already been in place Bordeaux went against the rules to sell him to Barcelona instead. It’s been a crazy 24 hours for Monchi and the Roma board. This came just several days after selling Liverpool bound Alisson Becker for 75 million as Roma got their hands lots of cash that they intended to use on Malcom Roma will now look at legal action. Despite the anger that the club has at Bordeaux over this transfer business Roma have signed Allison’s replacement reaching a deal with Swedish World Cup star Robin Olsen. Copenhagen’s goalkeeper has been Roma’s number one priority since the conclusion of the Alisson sale. Both Copenhagen and Roma were in constant talks over the last few days negotiating over the price tag. They reached an agreement on Sunday afternoon as Roma and Copenhagen agreed on a 8.5 million deal for the Swedish goalkeeper. The deal also includes an additional 3.5 million a bonuses as a part of the deal that will be based on performance related clauses. Copenhagen will retain 10% of the profit if he is sold in the future. The 28 year old that led Sweden to the World Cup quarter-finals in Russia. He arrived at the at Rome’s International Airport on Monday evening with a medical scheduled for Tuesday that would finalize the deal. He arrived at Fiumicino Airport yesterday as he was greeted by Roma supporters who were waiting to greet him. As Roma got their hands on a top-quality goalkeeper for what seems like pocket change near days after selling Alisson for over 60 million. An incredible business by Roma he was one of the best goalkeepers at this year’s World Cup. Olsen completed his medical before signing a five-year deal that runs through June of 2023. He will take over as of Roma’s starting goalkeeper filling the void of recently sold Alisson he has been given the number 1 shirt for Roma. He was introduced to the public on Tuesday afternoon Olsen is very excited and ready to get started. Olsen spoke at his press conference and he had this to say
” it’s a big honor for me to come to Roma it’s the next step for me and I cannot wait to get started” – Roma new Goalkeeper Robin Olsen
Robin Olsen has won seven trophies in his career including the league title twice in Denmark with Copenhagen and twice in Sweden with Malmo. Monchi despite what happened over the last 24 hours more he was extremely excited for Olson can do in the Roma shirt. Roma’s Director spoke during his press conference
” Robin is a goalkeeper with International experience and I think he can bring that level to Rome with him I’m confident he can build on a quality that has seen him firmly established himself as Sweden’s number one”. -Roma director Monchi
Roma did a sensational job with this deal as the Champions League semi finalists get a replacement within days after selling Alisson they got to goalkeeper that has incredible ability and quality and for such a low price this could be one of the best deals of the summer I see him establishing himself as one of the best keepers in the League this season. Roma struck gold with this one. Robin Olson will fly to San Diego to meet up with his new Roma teammates ahead of Roma’s pre-season tour in the United States for the International Champions Cup.

Olsen grew up Sweden as he played his football as a child in Malmo which the 3rd largest city in Sweden. He is the son of Danish parents he once even had a Danish passport but he also connected and related to Swedish culture as it was the place where he developed into a footballer that has played in the world cup. He bounced around in his youth career but started his football career in the Malmo youth set up. He spent three years with his local club before eventually moving to several youth teams spending time with BK Olympic FC Malmö and Bunkeflo IF. He was promoted to the first team of IF Limhamn Bunkeflo a team deep in Swedish football pyramid. Olsen spent three seasons with the club but barley played any games in the three years he spent at the club he played 8 games all coming in his final season. He would move on as he joined Bunkeflo FF in the following season he made just 18 starts for them. His journey in low in the Swedish football pyramid continued he was on the move again the next season another lowly ranked IFK Klagshamn he played 19 games that season his performances that season caught the eye of a club at the top of Swedish football. Malmo brought him back as he was singed to the senior team of his local club. He was the back up keeper as he struggled to earn a significant amount of game time he only played two games that season. As Malmo finished 3rd qualifying for the Europa league. Olsen got a bit more playing time the following season as he made 11 starts for Malmo who become eventual champions of Sweden winning the league. The next season he would official take over the starting goalkeeper job as he became Malmo’s number one. Olsen made 45 appearances as Malmo’s starter as the lead them to the champions league group stage and another league title as Malmo went back to back. At the end of that season he was named Goalkeeper of the year. During his last season with Malmo there was a major drop off as Malmo dropped down to 5th missing out on all European competitions. Olsen left his home country of Sweden for Greece as he would join Greek giants PAOK. It would be a brief stay as he only lasted half a season in Greece he make 11 starts before he was loaned out to Copenhagen in Denmark. A club and a country that molded him into the star he as become today. His started the 14 games remaining in the season for Copenhagen as he lead them to a league double winning the league and the cup while in Denmark. Also during that season he make his mark on the Swedish national team making his debut in 2015. In 2016 he secured a permanent move to Denmark as Copenhagen felt confident with Olsen as their number one going into the next season. Olsen lead them to back to back league doubles as they went on to win the title and the cup once again. Olsen started getting respect as he starting to be recognized as a top quality keeper as he established himself as Sweden’s #1. At the end of the season Olsen was named Sweden Goalkeeper of the year he had arrived. This last season Copenhagen took a step back falling to forth the in the Danish league. However while the team’s performances dipped his performances did not as he still was considered on of the best keepers from the out of the top 4-5 leagues. He once again was named Swedish goalkeeper of the year for the second time. In his three years with Copenhagen he won two league titles and two domestic cups in his 99 appearances for the club. He was selected in Sweden’s 23-man squad for this summer’s 2018 World Cup in Russia. He lead Sweden to an unlikely quarterfinals before going out to England. Olsen was one of the World Cup’s stand out performances the world was put on notice as his incredibly ability was full display. After the world cup he had plenty of suitors as the rumors of him going to a big club became a reality. As the Romans won the race for his signature as the World Cup star agreed to a 5-year deal Roma’s Sporting Director Monchi hand picked Olsen as the Heir to Alisson’s throne.

Having recently sold Alisson Roma wasted no time getting their hands on their number one for next year’s campaign. Roma now find themselves in safe hands in goal Olsen will replace the world Record sale of Alisson in net for the this upcoming season . Olson has shown his quality at the world cup and in Europe over the last several seasons is the sure fire number one goalkeeper for Roma. This is an amazing deal such a bargain to get a quality replacement for under 15 million in this market is a sensational buy an excellent job from Monchi for being able to pull this off. I think Roma fans and Serie A should be really exited about Olsen he has all the tools to be one of the best goalkeepers in Italian football. However we need to be honest with ourselves while Robin Olsen can develop into a star in the Roma colors and I truly believe that he is no Alisson. Alisson Becker is a one in a generation type of talent very Manuel Neur like there a reason why is price tag was as high as it was. We were lucky to have such a great keeper play for us. The good thing is he doesn’t need to repeat what Alisson did last year to have tremendous success in Rome this season the expectation shouldn’t be trying to fill Alisson shoes because that’s unfair. The expectation should be for Olsen to be a top 5 keeper next season and prove he belongs in the shirt. As far as getting excellent goalkeeping performances Roma shouldn’t be worried at all this isn’t new to Roma. Before Alisson even started one Serie A game he was the back up goalkeeper to Wojciech Szczęsny who spent two seasons on loan with Roma racking up 81 appearances in two season he was the Golden Glove winner for Roma before Alisson become the starter. Szczęsny lead the league in clean sheets raking up 14 two years ago. No one believe Alisson could recreate that great season but he did. Olsen should be able to do the same Roma had dealt with the same situation when Szczęsny left. Roma goalkeepers do have the luxury of playing in front of a great defense. Roma have a combination of the best Attacking and Defensive defenders in all of serie a with Manoals,Fazio,Florenzi and Kolarov. Roma also have defenders getting back from injury and added some quality in with defensive positions. Given that I think Olsen will mold well with the defensive options that this Roma team does have. That’s not to take away with how good Olsen is and the ability he has. Anyone that watched the world cup knows the quality he has he has earned his move to a club like this and I think he will be one of the best signings of the season. Roma are getting a goalkeeper with excellent instincts very cat like with the way he moves he has tremendous reflexes. Another key component is his incredible ability during very difficult one on one situations he has complete control during those pressurized moments which will key against some of these attacking minded teams that he will surely go up against this season. He has experience which could be crucial this season with another champions league campaign that will have high expectations coming off a Semi final last season. Olsen has everything required to lead to team to trophies next season and beyond Roma are safe in goal and to get such a quality keeper for such a low price is nothing short of a day light robbery. Monchi is clearly a transfer wizard as he gets Roma incredible value on a cheap deal that fills a need with a quality player. ROMA ARE IN SAFE HANDS
