It has been a very busy summer for Roma as Monchi and roma President James pallotta have done a tremendous job in trying to strengthen this team after an impressive campaign last season. The Roma board has brought in over 10 players some for the future and some who can go into the team right away and make an impact. Roma have lost a few players in the process but have secured the services to replace them. It has been rather quiet since Roma signed Robin Olson from Copenhagen paying 8.5 million for the goalkeeper. There have been a lot of negotiations taken place as a Monchi has worked on taking the steps to start conversations with some Roma transfer targets over the last week they had been extremely busy as they currently find themselves on the USA tour competing in the International Champions Cup through America. Roma have gone through San Diego and Texas and currently are in Boston awaiting their matchup the Champions League winners Real Madrid. The fact that Roma have been so busy on this tour hasn’t stopped Monchi from trying to pull off deals. What Roma have been working on over the past week is not their transfer targets but securing one of their key players to a new deal. In meeting that took place last week between Monchi James Pallotta and Alexandro Lucci the agent Roma youth product Alexandro Florenzi.. Florenzi had his contract set to expire after this season and had suitors in Italy and the Premier League with Inter Milan Chelsea Manchester United and Barcelona interested. The New Deal was discussed for months on end As It Seems as the two sides were trying to come to an agreement financially as Florenzi’s agent was pushing for a certain figure. After weeks the speculation Roma has finally got the deal done signing Alexandro Florenzi to a five-year extension with his new deal setting to expire in 2023. I am unaware of how much he will be paid per week but he is set for a massive deal and pay increase that will make him at the second highest paid player on Roma’s payroll. The Versatile left-back will make 3 million a year on his new contract only Edin Dzeko at 4.2 million makes more on this Roma team. Once this deal concluded both sides were delighted Florenzi was in an overwhelmingly good mood during the press conference earlier today in Boston about committing his future to Roma. The 27 year old has made already over 200 appearances for the Romans since making his debut in 2011 is delighted to continue his journey in the Italian capital.Roma sporting director Monchi described getting this deal done as the proudest moment of his career since his arrival in Rome in 15 months ago.

“Today is definitely a happy day for me. It’s an important day I  would like to thank all the fans that are happy like I am with this renewal today. I would like to hug all of them. I am very proud, very pleased to be able to continue to wear this shirt and represent this city I want to be, above all, an example for the players that we have now and in the future this year we have brought in a lot of players too. Obviously we have the captain, Daniele, and he leads by example – and I want to offer that too I  think that improving, that learning, never ends I have grown a lot here already. I was a kid with a dream, and I have grown into what I wanted to be – a man wearing the shirt of the club. here it is not just about the money for me. There is the pride, there is the passion and the emotion of the representing the club. So it is about weighing things up. Staying here was always the aim for me.
we will see today how the fans will react. On my part I am calm, because I know what I have given and can continue to give for Roma.”  – Alexandro Florenzi

“This is one of the happiest days in my 15 months at Roma so far. not just as a sporting director, but as a person and a fan of Roma. One of Roma’s sons has renewed his contract and will stay here at least five years.I say it is happy moment because I don’t know how long I will be at Roma, but I hope to one day be a Romanista like he is.this was not a short negotiation, but I think from the first moment we all were confident that it would end well. Because Alessandro wanted to stay here. I think he is an example as a professional and a Romanista.”

– Roma Sporting Director Monchi
This team only seems to get stronger by the day Monchi and the Roma board are building something special here in Rome. This team has the ability and the team to win multiple titles Roma view Florenzi as someone key to that project. Roma haven’t won the league title since 2001 the contract extension of a childhood boy allows him to continue his journey with his Boyhood Club. I believe you are looking at the future captain of Roma as he is the likely favorite to take the armband from Daniele de Rossi when he retires. This extension is not just important for the player and the team but the club itself Francesco Totti and Danielle De Rossi are two players that embodies what it means to be a Roman Alexandro Florenzi carries that same identity because he shares the emotion and the feeling of the  fans and the people he is one of them losing him would have been a travesty keeping him in the capital is important for the club’s future.

Alexandro Florenzi embodies the Roman image just like Francesco Totti Daniele de Rossi and Bruno Conti have had before him. Florenzi was born in Italy’s capital of He was born and raised and Rome if there was ever someone to represent the colors it is Florenzi. A local hero and someone who represents the image of Roma with great pride. A young boy who has been able to live out his dreams. At just 10 years old after playing for two different youth teams the Young Florenzi who was just 12 years old at a time had an opportunity to join Roma’s youth team. As a kid from Rome Florenzi always dreamed of wearing the Roma colors. Florenzi spent 6 years a in Roma’s Youth System from 2002 to 2006 as he improved year-by-year to eventually fulfilling his lifelong dream of playing for Roma. After 6 years of a developing his game he finally was given the opportunity to live out his dream getting called up to Roma’s first-team late in 2011. He ended up making his Serie A debut in May of 2011 in what was a 3-1 win against Sampdoria as he came on as a substitute to replace the iconic Francesco Totti. Florenzi had just turned 20 years old when he put on the Roma shirt for the first time. The Following season as a first team player it was know that he was always going to struggle to get into the team the Romans sent him on loan to Serie b side Crotone to continue his incredible development. The versatile left-back had his breakout season showing Roma and he was ready for first team football. Alexandro Florenzi scored 11 goals in his one season at Crotone despite a mid-table finish failing to gain promotion Roma were very impressed as he was included in the first team plans the Following season. In the 2012/2013 season Alexandra Florenzi played a major part in the side making 39 appearances in all competitions as he was the team’s starting left back occasionally playing Midfield. Florenzi went on to score 4 goals that season which at the time was a lot for a defensive player. However for Roma it was a low point under Luis Enrique Roma had an atrocious season finishing sixth in the league which is embarrassing for a team like Roma in addition to that they lost the Derby twice which is unacceptable by Roma standards. At the start of the 2013-14 season Roma appointed Rudi Garcia a manager Florenzi thrived under. Roma went from a 6th Place finish to runners-up to Juventus that season in addition to that they also made the Coppa Italia semi-finals. Under new management Roma made great progress. Florenzi made 41 appearances that season scoring an extraordinary 6 goals. He was gaining the reputation of being one of the most versatile players in the world football at player who can play multiple positions at a high level. In the  2014-15 season Roma finished second in the league again made the quarter finals of the Coppa Italia and got into the second knockout round of Europa League. Florenzi had another standout season with 5 goals in 45 appearances . For a Defender the amount of goals he was scoring on a consistent basis was crazy. In the 2015-16 season Roma didn’t start their best and by January Rudi Garcia lost his job for former Roma manager and current bad guy Luciano Spalletti. after such a poor start Roma turned it around earning a third-place finish. It was arguably Florenzi greatest season in a Roma shirts scoring eight goals in all competitions. Including an absolutely stunning goal from the halfway line against reigning Champions League winners Barcelona in the Champions League a goal that will likely Define him as a player. When people think of Florenzi that’s the goal they always remember. The last two seasons Florenzi goal tally decreased but his quality didn’t. Unfortunately in Roma’s  record-breaking 2016-2017 season he only appeared in 13 games as he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee that would end his season. Roma went on to the highest point total and a second-place finish only four points behind first place Juventus. It was the final season of Roma Legend and icon Francesco Totti as he stepped away from football for the last time. This last season there were a lot of changes Mohamed Salah Antonio Rudiger were both sold Luciano Spalletti left for Inter Milan. Transfer wizard Monchi joined Roma’s front office and former player Eusebio Di Francesco took over as manager. History was made again last season Roma had a very impressive season in the league earning a third-place finish but much improvements can be made going into this season. But remarkably Roma went on their deepest Champions League run since the 80s. EDF Led Roma to the Champions League semi- final coming back to beat Shakhtar Donetsk and a heroic comeback against Barcelona that now is viewed as one of the greatest comebacks in champions league history coming back from a 4-1 deficit to advance to the semi-finals. Roma ultimately went out to Liverpool But had a tremendous European campaign. Despite a lack of goals Alexandra Florenzi I thought was one of the most underrated players in the league as he was influential in nearly every game. With the changes that have been made this season he will now be looked at as one of the leaders of this relatively young and talented Squad that are capable of going the distance. Keeping him in the Eternal City allows him to continue to live his Boyhood dream. The resigning of one of Roma Sons shows the intent of what they are trying to build.
