Roma Striker: Edin Dzeko
Edin Dzeko was superb against Torino this week in their late win at the stadio Grande Torino. He scored a late goal at the very death of the game putting a Justin Kluivert’s cross in the back of the net in the 89th minute showing how impactful Edin Dzeko can be in a game. It wasn’t just him scoring that made him so efficient on Sunday it’s was the entire package of skills that he displayed. He was exceptional with his ball control was dangers in the air and made intelligent passes in crucial situations late in the game. He led this Roma team throughout this match to eventually put home a superb game-winning strike. He showed in this game why he’s one of the best strikers in the world he may not score at the ratio of Harry Kane Edinson Cavani or Robert Lewandowski but in terms of impact he has on the game not only as a goal scorer but playing his role extremely well as an all-around striker. Top performance from the Bosnian
Atalanta Center Forward: Papu Gomez
Despite the competition that he was against Papa Gomez was Sensational on the opening week of the season. He had two goals and two assists against the recently promoted Frosinone. On a Monday night matchup in a game Atlanta should have won he came through. Atlanta had not won a Opening match in 10 years Papa Gomez is a player that could play for anyone but rejected all offers to stay at the club that he loves I commend and appreciate his loyalty. This Atalanta team has been to Europe in two consecutive seasons they lost to keep players and he still was able to perform at a high level. He was easily one of the best performers of the weekend with his Stellar performance.
Lazio Striker: Ciro Immobile
As much as I don’t like to give credit to my rivals despite the loss to Napoli Ciro Immobile was unbelievable at home against Napoli. He scored arguably the best goal of the season so far it was terrible defending by Napoli but none the less he took three Defenders on in the box and scored an absolute Beauty to initially give Lazio the lead. Lazio ended up blowing it as Napoli went on to win 2-1 but his performance in that game was not overshadowed by Napoli’s performance. Lazio didn’t show up in this match Milinkovic Savic was really poor Luis Alberto didn’t do much and all of the players that usually step up for Lazio disappointed. The one thing that was constant for this Lazio team was immobile he is proving he still is a world-class Striker there are people around Europe who think he can only do it in Italy due to a poor showing in Germany several years ago but despite that he is good as anyone right now and even though they lost there’s no question in my mind that this lad is going to have a big season he is one of the most dangerous Strikers in this league without a shadow of a doubt a perfect start to his season.
DONKEY OF THE WEEK
Inter Manager : Luciano Spalletti
The donkey of the week goes to Luciano Spalletti his Inter Milan lost to Sassuolo away from home in The Opening match of the season. His team selection was questionable leaving out one of the best defenders in the league in Skriniar and having Ivan Perisic on the bench to start the game was disgraceful. Everybody’s been hyping up this Inter Milan team since the beginning of the summer I have been very critical of this team saying they aren’t as good as people are saying they still are definitely the 4th or 5th best team this is not a team that’s going to challenge for the scudetto. Not only was that a bad team selection but it was a bad performance and his excuses make him sound like a real donkey. After the match he blamed the status of the pitch on why they’re unable to perform. Inter Milan was atrocious in front of goal and at many points of the match they were dominated. Their performance was piss poor and they look terrible. Even when they brought on the likes of Ivan Perisic and Keita Balde it didn’t seem to help there were very few bright spots in their Opening match Marco Icardi had one of the worst games I’ve ever seen him play if he doesn’t get going Inter are in trouble When hes not scoring goals this is not the same team. With the team selection and tactics throughout the game Spalletti has earned himself the donkey of the week.
