El Shaarawy scores the winner as the Stadio Olimpico explodes in excitement

Roma win their 4th straight game in all competitions after El Shaarawy helps Roma avoid a second-half collapse. This game as much as anything displayed Roma’s issues and their strengths. A few months ago they would have been dead in the water the character of this team as of late has proved to be extremely vital. After surrendering a two-goal lead Roma managed to focus and hit back almost immediately to battle past a very good Torino team. El Shaarawy saves the day making an instant impact after a slight collapse. This match started off was more negativity as the injury carousel got a new passenger. Roma’s talented Turkish star Cengiz Under left with an injury in the opening 5 minutes of the game. Stephan El Shaarawy replaced the young star he very much took advantage of his opportunity showing Roma what they have been missing. It truly was a tale of two halves for Roma not to necessarily say they digressed in the second half but they were not at the same level. Nicolo Zaniolo scored yet another world-class goal becoming the youngest player to score multiple goals in a campaign. Nicolo Zaniolo has absolutely proven he is not just one of the best young players in the league he is one of the best players in the league scoring a goal that had the entire Stadium in awe. A Kolarov penalty gave Roma the 2-0 lead Torino fought back and even equalized. Despite that Torino didn’t outplay Roma at any point throughout however El Toro took advantage of their opportunities it was the difference. Roma’s ability to stay focused displaying a great deal of character got themselves to the finish line. A connection between Lorenzo Pellegrini and Stephan El Shaarawy sealed it during a rainy afternoon. It was a very tough match as Roma evaded what would have been a collapse. We saw the positives and the negatives In terms of the way that the team played they could not ask for a better performance I’m not saying this was the best performance of the season but throughout the 90 minutes I thought they played extremely well together. Conceding two goals in the second half like they did needs to be corrected it was a battle and a battle Roma certainly won. Rick Karsdorp got a start after barely being used all season he was absolutely brilliant without question Roma the best defender on the pitch and quite possibly this performance could secure a more permanent role in the team. The trio in the Midfield was close to perfect with El Shaarawy Justin Kluivert and Nicolo Zaniolo creating massive problems all game the youngsters opened up on an almost consistent basis Justin Kluivert and Nicolo Zaniolo may be teenagers but they certainly have not played like them this season I have been so impressed with the pair of them. El Shaarawy late Brilliance was extremely important and a Nicolo Zaniolo gave awesome moments of magic. Today’s man of the match goes to Lorenzo Pellegrini he quietly had an exceptional performance. Supplied the assist to the winning goal. He is the most consistent player on this team he got his team into a great position to win. He also did great work in the defensive midfield an all-around excellent performance. He may not have lit the world on fire but there was not a player on the field today it was more efficient a truly impactful performance. A near collapse but an incredibly resilient and characteristic win for Roma and more importantly for the first time all season they are in the top four in Italian football.
