Coming off a collapse historical on the road against Atalanta Roma try to put it past them after Roma surrendered a three-goal lead on Sunday. Roma prepare for the Coppa Italia quarter finals on the road in Florence as they get another crack at Florentina as they are meeting for the second time this season. In their first meeting Florentina were wrongly given a penalty in what ended up being a 1-1 draw a few months ago. Roma and Florentina are ready for battle for the second time with a place in the Copa Italia semi-finals at stake. Make no mistake this is the only trophy either one of these teams has a legitimate shot at winning. This is something both teams crave a deep run through this competition. Florentina and their newly-acquired Luis Muriel are looking to pull it off the upset at home against a vastly more talented Roma team that are coming off a mental collapse. Meanwhile Roma need a victory here for momentum not only will it take them to the the semi-finals but it would give them some confidence for what will be their biggest match of the season at home against Milan next weekend. Both these teams need this results for different reasons but only one will be able to prevail. Two youngest teams going head-to-head with a place in the semi-finals. Federico chiesa Giovanni Simeone And Luis Muriel take on The Young and talented Nicolo Zaniolo Justin Kluivert and the experienced Edin Dzeko who has recaptured his form. On Wednesday night we should be in for a absolute battle in what will be in intense atmosphere in Florence. Everything is at stake it is elimination knockout football win or go home.
Roma were great in the first half against Atlanta this weekend so I don’t think Roma need to make any vast adjustments. Just a few minor tweaks to make this team formidable again. Defensive adjustments I’ll probably the only thing needed. Roman need to pick up momentum and quickly I would not play a second team in a game with as much magnitude as this. As usual Robin Olsen will be in goal hoping this time around his defense doesn’t completely betray his great work he has done this season. I would keep some of the defense but I would reinsert Federico Fazio and Alexandra florenzi back into the fold. Getting a little bit more size and quickness in a very shaky defense. In the draw last weekend their defense was the main issue the rest of the team played pretty well. Roma defensive Midfield will likely be the pairing of Bryan cristante and Steven nzonzi once again. The two of them have played well together this season and roma are strongest When they are together. In Romans attacking Midfield I think they should consider putting in a Justin kluivert and having Stephan El Shaarawy come off the bench. Just to give Roma a little bit more athletic ability in the middle as they will have Lorenzo Pellegrini and Nicolo zaniolo likely playing with him in the middle. And I’m front even though Patrik Schick score two goals in his last cup game I think you need to give edin dzeko the start he was absolutely sensational last weekend and he’s finally recapturing his form. Roma should give edin dzeko an opportunity to show his quality once again. If Roma can get edin dzeko in top shape they will become a much more dangerous team and order for that to happen he needs to be playing in the majority of the games. The key play for me will be edin dzeko because if he gets going early in this game and he’s having one of his days it will be very difficult for Florentina to control him given his size and strength.
Florentina has done really well the last few weeks and could damage Roma in a few different ways. Since Luis Muriel arrived two games ago they have been a different team. In addition to that this team has not lost for several weeks. They beat a very strong Torino team in the round of 16 and tactically have a few different options in what they can play against Roma. Florentina has a good enough team to score goals in this match especially given the status of Roma’s defense. However over the last two games they have wasted a lot of chances that needs to be corrected if they’re going to win this game. In terms of the quality of the teams even though Roma is slightly Superior they are very similar. Two of the youngest teams in the league Florentina has a lot of young Stars just like Roma. They will have a very tough mentality and have a great game plan in place. Having this match at home should help greatly as well. Defensively florentina’s should be relatively mistake-free if they’re able to do that they will have a serious chance because going forward they have been excellent over the last few games. Extremely high scoring team with seven goals in the last two games. The key play for me is the Federico chiesa even though Luis Muriel has scored in every game since joining the Midfield will dictate everything if he can get into opportunities and supply for his teammates he could make things very difficult for Roma an extremely dangerous and explosive player that could be a big problem.
Despite being on the road I would say Roma are slight favourites but not by much. Given how they have played this season they are very inconsistent team and after we saw last week even a significant lead can evaporate. Roma need this win not only to push them to the semi-finals but for their own momentum they have a very difficult matchup coming next weekend and needs to be in confidence space before that happens. However if you take out last week Roma are playing their best football of the Season won consecutive games and are unbeaten in five matches. Not to mention they will be looking for revenge after earlier this season having controversial penalty given against them which led to dropprd points. The defense will be extremely important Roma cannot make the same mistakes they made last week. They need to play as mistake-free as possible. I think the Midfield explosiveness and Edin Dzeko upfront could be the key to getting up early in this match. When Edin Dzeko has service he’s as good as anyone. With the likes of Justin Kluivert Lorenzo Pellegrini and Nicolo Zaniolo they are all players with exceptional athleticism and intelligence and can find ways to make Edin Dzeko am important part of the scheme to attack Florentina. On the other hand Roma have this to their advantage Florentina has been in two consecutive shootouts so exhaustion may have play a part in this match. The Florientina Striker Luis Muriel is in Sensational form had another incredible performance this last week. He is playing to his absolute best since his return to Italy if they can use Federico Cheisa and feed their Striker it could be trouble given how much Roma defense has struggled. From the Tactical perspective it’s a little unclear what each team will do but I expect them to attack each other because that’s a most efficient way to get things off the mark. There’s a place in the semi-finals in the balance and both teams are good enough to get there. It will be an emotional and physical battle between two young teams with experienced veterans. Given what happened to Roma last weekend I think it gives Roma the slight edge because they have something to play for they have a point to prove and they need it to bounce back from what happens it will be a very tightly contested game and I would not be surprised if this one into extra time. Both teams know how important this is for their season this is probably the only legitimate chance at a trophy this season and they cannot let it slip through their hands. I’m going to stay Roma wins a narrow battle but this honestly could go either way. Florentina will be at home but they’re going to be battling a angry Roma team who will be determined to change their fortunes. Wednesday night will be a great match with lots of storylines I believe this game will go past 90 minutes but in the end Roma will find a way to the semi-finals.
