Roma has been very active in the transfer market as new sporting director Gianluca Petrachi tries to put together the perfect squad for Paulo Fonseca. As the new manager prepares for his first season in Italian football. Roma has already done some pretty good business in the early parts of the summer. Leonardo Spinazzola from Juventus arriving in a swap deal with Luca Pellegrini. Napoli Young midfielder Adamu Diawara and Real Betis goalkeeper Paulo Lopez. Roma’s new director continues to try to build on what they’ve already done this summer. He has been in constant negotiations with several different potential targets. Roma has lost Kostas Manolas and Stephan El Shaarawy but they have seemed to rebounded scraping some good deals. One of the biggest issues last season what’s Roma’s defense they conceded it twice as many goals during the last campaign than 2 years ago. They have been in constant communication regarding Atalanta center-back Gianluca Mancini. This move has been speculated for quite some time and only recently coming to fruition. The two clubs in agreement almost three weeks ago, however, a few details were missing from the agreement in the deal that eventually concluded. He is viewed as the potential replacement for Kostas manolas that left for Napoli. Roma signed Mancini on an initial one-year loan deal for around 2 million euros with a mandatory buy in the contract for another 13 million when all bonuses and performance-related Clauses are met it will round up to about 23 million. The young Italian center-back signed a five-year deal giving new manager Pablo Fonseca a quality Young center-back that can lead Roma into the future. He was part of the Atalanta team that securing a top-three place & a champions league finish in what was unprecedented waters for the club. Yesterday once the deal was officially completed he flew to Rome Wednesday morning as he arrived in the capital to officially complete the deal pending a medical that took place yesterday afternoon. He met with Club officials and had his first interview as a Roma player. He is expected to be available when Roma starts their pre-season tour. He will join up with his new teammates for pre-season training. This was one of Roma’s biggest needs going into the transfer window and following the sale of the Greek center-back Mancini Mancini comes in following a great campaign in which he was one of the best defenders in the league last season. Roma sporting director makes another strong signing in what was a desperate need for Roma. Roma finally gets their man as Mancini should be a very important part of this Roma defense next season as they continue to try to build this team into a winner with the young talent already in the squad. This may turn out to be a bargain given how talented he is. In addition to that Petrachi and Foncesa continue to work to try to add a few more quality players within the team to make this club improve even more. A deal for Florentina midfielder Jordon Veretout is all but completed as well as he is expected to be announced as a Roma player in the next 72 hours as he will be on his way to Rome in a few days. Roma has also been targeting another center-back possibly a partner for Mancini in Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham the defender has a release Clause of 25 million but the Romans intends to try to lower the price a little bit as they will continue to negotiate. Whether or not that deal will get done is not abundantly clear right now but Roma will continue with negotiations and trying to get the deal over the line. They’re also targeting Rodrigo de Paul to add one more component to the Midfield. Roma has made real progress they only need a few pieces to be ready for the season. The important thing here is over the last week Roma have secured their two biggest needs with Pau Lopez & Gianluca Mancini. Petrachi signals his intent and Ambitions for this club bringing in quality players who can make an impact right away this season. Mancini arrived and is ready to get to work another top-notch job from the Roma board as this Roma team continues to come together.

“Joining a prestigious club like Roma is a proud moment for me, and the culmination of all the hard work put in ever since I first started to play football,” said Mancini.
“I cannot wait to get started on this new adventure.”

“The arrival of Gianluca allows us to boost our defensive options with a young defender that has great talent and is coming off a very impressive season,” said the club’s sporting director Gianluca Petrachi.
“I am pleased that Paulo Fonseca will now have the chance to coach a young player who is dedicated to his work and has a great desire to improve further.”

Gianluca Mancini started his career at about 7 years old after being discovered by a coach of a local team during a country fair. He was not playing organized football at the time because he was too small but the coach I was very interested. Saying “either you bring him to my team or I will take him myself this kid needs to play football”. When he was a little kid he would practice with his sister on the walls of their family business. The game always existed inside of him even though where he went in football may not have been where he originally expected. He had a relatively quick development as he was discovered by Florentina as he signed to be in their youth set-up. Mancini progressed very well in the primavera with the viola. He spent nine years in the Youth Academy winning the National title with the U15’s during that time span. He developed technically and tactically abilities as he continued to grow as a player. Mancini originally started playing as a midfielder but eventually evolved into a defender which is a large reason why he has attacking abilities at his position. However, even though there was interest in using him in the senior team he got very little playing time if any. He eventually was loaned out to Serie B-side Perugia. He continued to develop his potential and talent in Italian second division where he eventually caught the eyes of Gasparini and Atalanta after two highly productive development seasons with Perugia. It only cost Atlanta $200,000 Mancini made his debut in Serie A against his old Club Florentina he scored his first goal during that season against Chievo Verona. He made 11 appearances scoring one goal in his debut season in Serie A. Atalanta had a somewhat breakout season finishing 7th in the league. During this past season, he was part of an Atalanta team that went above and beyond what anyone expected from them finishing in the Champions League finishing ahead of AC Milan Inter Milan and Roma. He was one of the best defenders in Serie A last season scoring five goals which was the second-highest in the league for a Defender proving his value was beyond what Atalanta could give him even though they’re in the Champions League Mancini looked for the next step up. Roma seems to be the perfect place for him to continue to develop his incredibly high ceiling and potential. the young Italian Defender is only 23 years old and has a chance to be one of the very best in the league he possesses attacking and defensive abilities and will fit in immediately with this team with the exit of Kostas Manolas he will fit in perfectly. He’s young but each year he has developed into a more refined player and hopefully we will see more of that to come wearing the Roma colors.
Gianluca Mancini has been brought to Roma for one particular reason to be at the heart of the Roman defense. With the loss of Kostas Manolas, he is expected to take that role and be a leader for a defense that needs to have a much-improved season. Roma defensively was a huge issue last season the lack of a proven defense may have also attributed to the consistency problems they faced all season. Mancini is the perfect player to operate in this New Roma team and potentially be the leader of the backline. He is young at just 23 years old and he has experience in Italian football there will not be an adjustment issue. The young center-back can play in any formation that Pablo Fonseca desires to use. He has played out of a three-man backline as well as a defense that featured five. Paulo Fonseca typically has operated out of the 4-2-3-1 formation he potentially could be the core of that Roma backline as the leader. He’s an incredibly smart and efficient player which will help Pablo Fonseca input his philosophies into a new Roma team. He has a physical trait that will make him a huge problem not only in defensive and attacking situations. The young Mancini is an imposing figure at 6 foot 4 which gives Roma even more size. He’s very physical and discipline in his movements and can be a very difficult player to handle. He could be incredibly dangerous off corner kicks and can be hugely effective on set-pieces. Using his size strength and Agility he is a very difficult player to control in those type of situations. He is a fantastic talent possessing athleticism pace and power. At the moment he is not a better player than Manolas but he has some intangible abilities that Roma didn’t have before. He is also a very disciplined player he rarely just called for fouls or receives cards. He’s a very physical player that knows his movements incredibly antagonizing can be physical without being punished. To have discipline as he has for a player at such a young age is a huge thing to have at their disposal. He can keep Roma moving at a high level and a fast pace. He is one of the most promising bright young players in Italian football. He can play any defensive position and even go forward with his previous experience playing Central Midfield. He can stop counter-attacks regularly he has an unreal level of intelligence that certainly will become big problems for teams that come to the Olimpico. Incredible at tracking movements and reacting in rapid succession when it’s trying to execute an attack. He is incredibly gifted and his ability to trap the players forcing them into undesirable situations he is very comfortable defending both Central areas as well as wing areas. He has all the skills and abilities necessary to be an incredibly instrumental part of this Roma team next season and the years to come. In the attacking point of view, he has incredible power ability to strike with his head from long distances you take that into account with his size it can be an absolute nightmare to try to control. Also has underrated passing ability and vision to try to start a counter-attack with his ability to find teammates in a good position. He is comfortable dragging the ball forward and operating in attacking areas in actuality Gianluca Mancini is the definition of an all-around Defender. He can do so many things with the ball as well as being a defensive force that Roma desperately need. This is an absolutely fabulous signing in a there is no doubt in my mind that he will hit the ground running will probably be the best defender on Roma relatively quickly he has all the characteristics needed to be that type of player for the Romans. An unbelievably bright young talent who can evolve into one of the game’s best Defenders Pablo Fonseca I’m sure will be incredibly happy with the arrival of Mancini everything he can do and the skills that he has will thrive under his attacking style of football this was a deal that had to get done and to get him at the price they did it will be looked at as a bargain.
