Roma-vs-Genoa-01h45-ngay-19-04-11

It has been and Incredibly long and lengthy summer. However, all that is over as we have reached the day we have been waiting for since the last kick of the ball in May. Italian football is officially back you can feel the excitement and the anticipation in what is expected to be one of the best campaigns in quite some time. We have reached the day the hour the minute Serie A has officially returned. Saturday night Juventus take on Parma and Napoli have a date with Florence. However, in the Italian capital the Paulo Fonseca era starts in Rome on Sunday at the Stadio Olimpico as Roma host Genoa on under the lights. A new era of Roma begins no Francesco Totti no Daniele de Rossi it is now Alessandro Florenzi’s and Lorenzo Pellegrini team excitement will return this season to the Olimpico Genoa will be a Stern test but Paulo Fonseca and Roma will be ready when Genoa make the trip to the Eternal City. Will the Romans take care of business or will Genoa find a way to start the new season was a huge upset at the Stadio Olimpico? We’ll find out all that and more when these teams battle it out on Sunday night.

Paulo Fonseca brings an attacking style of football with a new team that has been built over the summer. The majority of the players that Roma have signed fit his system and how he wants to play with this team. There is a bit of uncertainty exactly how this team lineup or what formation will be played on Sunday. It’s a new coach a new system and a new season is very difficult to predict. However, all reports have suggested that Pablo Fonseca will favor the 4-2-3-1 formation this season. Roma’s new goalkeeper will be making his debut as Pau Lopez will it be in the Roma net. The center-back partnership leading the defensive line in all likelihood will be Federico Fazio being paired with new Roma signing Gianluca Mancini. Playing right back will without question be the Roma Captain Alessandro Florenzi. The left-back spot is kind of open at the moment between Alex Kolarov and Leonardo Spinazzola. My guess is Leonardo Spinazzola will be the starter for the majority of the season. However, on this occasion, I think Kolarov will be the starter on Sunday. The defensive Midfield Trio in is likely to be Lorenzo Pellegrini and Bryan Cristante. Jordan Veretout will make many starts this season and Roma also have Adamou Diawara but I think Roma go with experience in the opener. In the attacking Midfield should be Nicolo Zaniolo in the center position with Cengiz Under and Diego Perotti on the wings. In front, as the main Striker will be Edin Dzeko. Roma comes into this game with a strong bench as I see Justin kluivert and Jordan Veretout making the appearance at some point. The key player in this game for Roma should be Diego Perotti he struggled to stay healthy last season and there were even rumors of an exit but he stayed and Paulo Fonseca views him as a starting left wing he has a point to prove and I believe he will deliver.

Genoa

Genoa is a team that was almost relegated last season and in all honesty, probably are lucky to still have maintained their place in the top of Italian football. The only reason they have maintained is because of the goal difference. There is quite a lot of things to be concerned about from their perspective going into this season. They do not have a primary goal scorer and it could be difficult to maintain that. Someone needs to step up this season and this is a very difficult first game against a team that will attack them. To be honest I’ve got little idea of how they will line up on Sunday. This may be a shot in the dark but I think the 4-3-3 formation could suit them. Give them protection in the Midfield in case their defense is exposed and with the likes of Christian Romero in the defense they can push forward if they need to. There’s just a lot of uncertainty they’ve gone out and gotten good players the question is whether they will fit together. At some point, you’re going to want to experiment with their squad to see who will stand out but this match probably isn’t the one to do that against a team that is capable of breaking. To me, Christian Romero will be the key player for them. Roma is likely going to attack the general backline as much as possible. Romero could play a big role in the limiting of high-quality chances trying to make things as difficult as they possibly can they also have a good goalkeeper in Radu but Romeo is the key not only because of his defensive ability but his ability to push the team forward he will be hugely important and how they perform to start the season.

Bottom Line

70-1

The bottom line is Genoa has all the tools and resources to make this game as difficult as they possibly can on Roma but I don’t see that being enough. Genoa was incredibly strong at home but away from home they don’t have a lot of confidence and we could see an organizational problem at the Olimpico. This may be a difference but in recent memory, they have not done well away from their ground this is the game is going to be in hostile territory. They will try to hold off Roma as much as I possibly can but given the football that Roma will attempt to throw at them it’s going to be incredibly difficult to try to prevent what could be inevitable. Pablo Fonseca plays a brilliant attacking style of football. Teams go fast go quick and then get on the counter-attack. That’s what makes this such a big problem if they get on the counter-attack there’s no stopping it. They have the Turkish Speedster Cengiz Under who is as quick as practically anyone in the league. You compile that with Lorenzo Pellegrini and Bryan Cristante who’s vision and passing ability is second to none. If they get going it’s going to be hard to stop Diego Perotti as incredible pace that’s not to mention Edin Dzeko in the middle who else has given service is capable of finding the back of an apps on a regular basis if Genoa can find a way to prevent the counter-attack it may be enough to salvage a point but given the type of football that Fonseca plays even if they don’t get on the counter-attack they can still be incredibly effective the game that builds from the back and if they get forward they will execute. This is a relatively new team but despite that Roma have too many weapons and in which they can cause mayhem throughout the 90 minutes not to mention their at home at the Stadio Olimpico the first game of the new manager they got a lot of confidence going and I think it’s going to be very difficult stop. Roma will win this game they will be moments that Genoa will do everything they can to slow them down but in the end the attacking football and the players that have within this team will be too much to overcome won’t be by any means a cakewalk Roma will be tested however the lack of attacking options that Genoa will make things increasingly challenging. Giving all the components that they have in this team especially playing at home they will eventually break through & grab early momentum for the Derby next weekend.
