Nicolo Zaniolo Virtuoso Display leads Roma past Napoli into the Title Race #680

After a slow start to the season Roma have a really started to pick up momentum as they’ve caught fire at exactly the right time. Coming into this match Roma we’re coming off back-to-back wins and are unbeaten in their last six matches. They welcomed Napoli to the stadio olimpico this afternoon in Rome. Napoli has really struggled to find any momentum or confidence whatsoever. Many speculated they would be one of the title favorites this season they have imploded after a collapsed against Atalanta at home being without a win in their last three games. last season Napoli won the season series but were tested by Roma in the first match. We saw a another edition of the Derby Del Sol as Napoli try to use a match like this to get back on the right track. Roma currently lead this Derby historically but have not beaten Napoli at home since 2017 Roma will try to change that in one of the best matches of the weekend. Roma didn’t have to wait very long to carve open the match as in-form Nicolo zaniolo scored in his third consecutive match with a strike from outside the box to give Roma the 1-0 lead. The young Italian is just a different kind of special after another terrific performance. Roma had the opportunity to double it not long after getting a controversial penalty but Alex Meret denies Kolarov to keep Napoli in the game. All the momentum was with Roma before the penalty save it quickly shifted and at the end of the first half Napoli had several chances in which they should have converted on including two shots that came off the crossbar. Roma had the 1-0 lead going into the second half. Roma took back control and used momentum to their advantage coming close on a multitude of occasions. Eventually Roma broke through for a second time Javier Pastore brilliantly won a penalty striking Mario Rui in the hand. This time it would be Jordan veretout as a Frenchman stepped up and converted the penalty giving Roma the 2-0 lead to score his first goal wearing the Roma shirt. Roma were in cruise control as Napoli we’re playing so poorly it was utter domination at times in that second half. Eventually Napoli got back in the game as Milik scored at the near post minimizing the deficit. Despite that Roma were the better team on the night despite some late chances from Napoli following a late free-kick Roma held on to secure all three points and move into the top three with a 2-1 Victory. Roma officially entered the title race with their third consecutive victory as they’re playing their best football of the season. Despite Roma’s injuries and Roma pick up a big three points as they find themselves on the doorstep of A race for the scudetto.


Paulo Fonseca has figured out a way to deal with the Roma injuries while still maintaining his 4-2-3-1 formation. It would be a nearly identical team to what we saw on Wednesday night. In goal as always would be Roma’s Spaniard shot-stopper, Pau Lopez. Roma would make two changes to their backline with the suspension of Federico Fazio. At left-back would be the Serbian sniper ALEKS Kolarov, beside him would be the center-back partnership of Chris Smalling and Mert Certin as the Turkish youngster makes his first start since making his move this summer. Then returning to the starting lineup at right-back would be Leonardo Spinazzola. We would once again see the same defensive Midfield pair of Jordan Veretout and Gianluca Mancini who continues to transition into a versatile midfielder. It would be the same 3 in Roma’s attacking Midfield. In central position would be Javier Pastore who’s coming off a fantastic performance on Wednesday. On the left-wing would be Roma talented youngster Justin kluivert. On the opposite side on the right-wing would be Nicolo Zaniolo who has scored in 3 consecutive games. Then upfront as the main Striker would be the Bosnian Hitman Edin Dzeko. Roma would also have options off the bench with Diego Perotti and Cengiz Under.



After preparation and predictions, the match was just about to get underway in the Eternal City as we were in for another installment of the Derby Del Sol also known as the Derby of the Sun. The match would get underway as a hugely important battle took place with only one point separating the teams. Roma came out with a lot of energy and aggressiveness as their attacking prowess was on display early. Justin kluivert fired two shots just outside the box narrowly missing. Roma had the early momentum and we’re playing with much more confidence as Justin kluivert came close on two more occasions from deep. This was a completely different Roma team to the one we saw during the first several games of the season. Napoli was finding great difficulty maintain possession as they were losing their grip in the game. The game began to open up much more as Javier Pastore put his foot through a Gianluca Mancini through ball that narrowly missed. Despite that Javier Pastore has been playing with a lot more confidence recent. Roma had everything going for them it was only a matter of time before they broke through. In the 19 minutes, Nicolo Zaniolo delivered once again. Leonardo Spinazzola was driving the ball down the wing before crossing it to Nicolo Zaniolo who was just outside the box the young Italian had space and time to operate cutting inside before sending a rocket into the roof of the net to give Roma the 1-0 lead. An absolutely outrageous hit with a sensational finish as Zaniolo stays hot as he scores in his fourth consecutive game. Roma’s young Superstar scores his sixth goal of the season which is already more than what he did last year. He is really in for an incredibly special season. Minutes later approaching Kolarov was denied from Point Blank Range. However, we would have some VAR controversy after the sequence. Roma was given a penalty after an alleged handball by Callejon who led with his arm it was a very questionable penalty decision but luckily for Napoli Alex Meret came up big denying Kolarov. At this point, Roma had all the momentum in their direction quietly it starts to shift. This was the opportunity for Napoli they were within inches of equalizing as De Lorenzo connected on a header from a Lorenzo insigne cross he was on the verge of a goal before Chris Smalling came outta nowhere in what was a terrific goal-line save. Roma tried to recapture their momentum with incredibly dramatic moments as Nicolo Zaniolo search for a second even though it didn’t come. Lorenzo insigne was denied by Pau Lopez a few minutes later Milik put his head through a cross from dries Mertens that should have been a sure goal but he hit the crossbar before coming out for Peter Zieliński who shot also connecting with the post. Two incredible opportunities for Napoli to get back in the game that seemingly slipped through their hands. That would end the first half as Roma had the 1-0 lead thanks to a Nicolo Zaniolo Wonder strike.


A really strong first-half yet again from Nicolo Zaniolo. Napoli had some momentum going at the end of the half. In the second half, Roma reiterated themselves early. Napoli was losing it a bit as it was very much back into Roma’s favor. Roma was playing with such confidence it was difficult to stop. Justin kluivert came close again with a dagger from outside the box just a little bit too high as it sailed over. Napoli was falling out of the game and looked very suspect the game was slipping away from them. Things were about to get a little bit more difficult for Napoli. In the 65th minute, Roma displayed a quick passing attack between the Midfield. Kolarov sent through Javier Pastore who came in just behind Pastore use his intelligence anticipation to win a penalty. As his shot hits Rui in the arm. As Roma was given their second penalty of the game this time it would be Jordan Veretout that would step up. The French midfielder was a penalty taker at Florentina. With a little less than a half-hour to go Gianluca Mancini came very close connecting through a Jordan Veretout cross. Alex Meret who was the only standout star for Napoli. Soon after Roma made their first chance of the game as Cengiz Under returned for the first time in a month As Nicolo Zaniolo headed to the bench after a terrific affair. Napoli did manage to get back into the game as Chucky Lozano orchestrated an opportunity for Milik as he beat Cetin to the near post to get one back. Shortly after Roma went to the bench again as Diego Perotti came in for Justin kluivert. Roma was doing a really good job defensively as Roma try to hold on until the very end. Napoli had a late free kick in the closing moments Milik connected with a well-hit ball but misfired as the final whistle blew. Roma beat Napoli in the Derby Del Sole Roma move into the top three as they enter the title race.


Another classic in the derby Del Sole in what has at times been a competitive rivalry. There was a lot of stake in this game as Roma just last week hopped over Napoli into the Top Four. Napoli had an opportunity and a chance to get themselves back into the Champions League place and we’re looking for some much-needed momentum as they have drifted this season. Meanwhile, Roma was in great form and playing with a lot of confidence we were finally seeing the type of football that Fonseca promised when he. Despite being pampered by injuries Roma is starting to get some big results. We have seen progress in all areas. This afternoon at the Stadio Olimpico we saw another example of that. This was a real opportunity for Roma to find their way into the title race and to make things even more miserable for Napoli. Roma put together another Sensational performance as the team has stepped up in light of all the injuries and come through for them. In this match, both teams were only one point apart as everything was on the line. The result could have a massive ripple effect in the league and that’s exactly what we saw. Rising Star Nicolo Zaniolo scored an absolutely outrageous strike to give Roma the lead. He has just played on another level this season scoring his third consecutive goal as has really defined himself as that Superstar. Napoli was trying to find a way back in the game ultimately failed. However, the Naples side had the opportunities coming close on a few instances including two strikes that hit off the bar. The match itself only intensified in the second half. Those missed chances came back to haunt Napoli as Roma Javier Pastore cut into the box hitting the ball at the end of Rui that led it to a penalty by Roma in what was a very manipulative tactic by Javier Pastore who once again was sensational. As Jordan Veretout converted scoring his first goal for Roma. The Frenchman was pretty special was largely impactful through the Midfield and in the passing Lanes getting the ball upfield as he orchestrated opportunities for teammates and all the round Sensational performance. Roma’s attack was just tactically sound this afternoon Justin kluivert Nicolo Zaniolo Javier Pastore was just so efficient as a tandem Roma proved their superiority in the match. The entire defense plays their part Chris Smalling continues to impress with a goal-line save that switched momentum. Even Edin Dzeko continues to contribute it was an all-around Collective performance by Roma. the man-of-the-match this week goes to Nicolo Zaniolo who is just playing out of his mind he is the future of Roma and this club going forward he is an unbelievable talent that just maybe by the end of the season one of the best players in the entire league. Meanwhile, Napoli is in deep trouble dropping all the way down to 7th after this result they have drastically underachieved and they have no confidence or momentum flowing. Roma after big results winning their third consecutive game moves into the top three and enter the title race.
